Nice train ride through the valley from Arkville to Roxbury. Not a steam locomotive, but diesel. Old pullman cars. 2 hour ride at a good price.
What a wonderful 2 hours!!! Riding the rails in the Catskill Mountains looking at the beautiful fall foliage and taking in all the sights at a relaxed pace. The old train cars are wonderful and a great chance to show your children how people used to travel. All the people working there are kind and helpful. If you are not on one of the lunch rides you are welcome to bring food and drink on board to enjoy. We will definitely be back next year for another ride!
Very fun and exciting train ride. Incredible views and colored hills. We did the catered lunch and everything was excellent. Dave the train operator was awesome. He made it very special and all our guest really enjoyed it.
We didn't plan on seeing the train robbery, but what a fun time. My 3.5 year old had a awesome time and we both have great memories.
Arriving at the station, you will notice the large, attractive signs telling you that you have arrived at the home of the Delaware and Ulster Rail Road. The grounds are well-maintained and have many lush flower beds surrounding the station and two stationary cabooses, one which houses immaculate restrooms. Your train will be idling on the track while you park in the ample parking lot. Other train cars and engines sit on sidings in various stages of restoration. It is a rail fan's dream. We rode the Rip van Winkle Flyer for a luncheon tour of the Catskills. The staff was enthusiastic, accommodating, and informative. We rode in the upper deck of the observation car and had expansive views of the mountains and farms while dining on fresh, tasty, locally prepared foods. It was an enjoyable trip for all. I would recommend this excursion to anyone seeking to become familiar with the Catskills while enjoying the ride in beautiful antique train cars. It provides one with a different experience and perspective from our car-centered society. Don't miss it!
I rode the D&U for the first time in about five years and I liked it very much. The railroad winds it's way up to Roxbury through some very pleasant scenery. The total trip takes two hours and a good time was had by all.
This is a nice way to see the fall foliage in the Catskills. Starts in Arkville and travels north to Roxbury. Indoor and outdoor seating on an old train....quaint and well managed.
This is a tour on a vintage locomotive . Be sure to sit where the conductor can act as your tour guide.
We were terribly disappointed in this experience. There was no train robbery, only a small shoot out show on the platform. The ride was nice but not very scenic. We drove for 5 hrs. to participate in this activity and would definitely not recommend it.
the conductor was very entertaining and knowledgeable-had no dislikes --the food was good--even prepared---
