To come to Athens and not go to the Georgia Theater is a travesty! The refurb is terrific with the new upstairs and rooftop bars.
1st stop on first visit was rooftop bar. Bar was cool, beer was cold. Really wanted to eat there but friends wanted something else. When the wife and I go back, we are doing lunch for sure. Food looked good and seemed like those around enjoyed it and got it fast. Man, I like this place!
I went to watch a movie with my granddaughter and the cinema staff was so warm and inviting to me. I loved the buttered popcorn that was done just right and the theatre wasn't over crowded and there was no noise during the movie. Although I have forgotten the name of the movie, I will always remember Athens Ga. I moved there shortly after the movie thing. I then moved back nearly a month later. But the other attractions such as the state homes and the restaurant and the sores were all so happening and I liked it. But my foremost and first heart will be Savannah Chatham County. Athens will e number two!
I was in town for a meeting and wanted to experience the atmosphere of the Georgia Theatre. The show and crowd was great. Love The Roof Top restaurant.
I've seen so many shows here by now that it almost feels like a second home. One of the best under 1000 capacity rooms anywhere. I've enjoyed shows from both the floor and the balconies. Love the atmosphere, the acoustics, the bar servings, and the rooftop bar. The only possible knock I could think of would be having a bit better set-up for merchandise and the fact that one time we had a delay in getting will call tickets that led to people who bought tickets for a pre-sale not being allowed in until ten minutes after the venue opened (lost all the best seats, pre-sale was supposed to guarantee EARLY entry.)
We saw Zoso there (twice, actually - once before it burned down and once after it was renovated), and it was awesome both times. I love this venue, and the acoustics are great.
great roof-top bar and restaurant. food is limited but good. not enough seating inside but a fun venue for bands. cleaner and better since renovations.
The food was good but the rooftop atmosphere and alcoholic beverage was great! We enjoyed a relaxing lunch on the roof overlooking Athens with a nice cold drink on a warm spring day. A little crowded at times so be prepared to wait for an open table. No one seats you so it's first come first serve and you order at the bar.
The rooftop at the Georgia Theatre is a little known diamond in the Athens restaurant scene. The burgers here are phenomenal!!! I went here with my family after reading some of the reviews. I was amazed to find that their burgers are in the same vain as Holman & Finch in Atlanta (indeed the menu mentions that the bread was made by the Atlanta restaurant). And boy did those burgers not disappoint, they were juicy and full of flavor. Plus, the drink selection and the view make this place a must eat for anyone in Athens.
Been in Athens since 2003, and the 'new' theater and renovations made after the devastating fire years ago are phenomenal. The acoustics are great. There isn't really a bad spot to see the show. It's super convenient to get drinks at every level of the theater. The roof top bar is a must and sold out shows are shown on the monitors there. All around just a pleasant experience for any type of show or UGA game.I highly recommend going to the roof top for lunch during the spring and fall months.
