We visited this area in December we did'nt go for a walk around the lake due to snow but what we could see looked lovely, there is ski- ing, shops hotel and from what we where told fabulous walks around the lake.
I was surprised at how small the lake was when I saw it first. But what it lacks in size, it covers up in beauty. We visited it on a rainy afternoon and the clouds were floating over the area; giving it a surreal look. I wish I took a walk around the lake but it was cold and too foggy for that.We ate at the restaurant nearby and the food was good. The souvenir shop is excellent.
One very long shop selling souvenirs and an expensive restaurant, with shop selling souvenirs. Not much else to say!
This lake is a about an hour from Baden-Baden and worth the trip provided you know the story around its existence.Nevertheless its is place touristy with lots of buses visiting. The excursion is particularly worth on a hot day as the temperature is alway a few degrees lower than in the city. Buy some bread and the famous Black Forest Ham and have a piece of Black Forest Cake in the Restaurant. The ride to the lake is the best of the trip with beautiful vistas. You may wish to continue on the B 500 up to Freudenstadt with one the largest market squares in Germany.
Breathtaking views. Photo ops left and right. Enjoyed the walk around the lake and of course had to have some black forest cake.
It is a bit out of the way to the city, through winding road. It was a weekend summer, so parking can be a bit hard to find. You can rent pedal boats or walk around the lake, but the lake is not big. We had the Black Forest cake that made up for the disappointing visit.
Our tour group rode a bus through the Black Forest to this lake from Baden Baden in August 2014. It was a holiday weekend and the place was packed with tourists, but the restaurant had a large room reserved for us and the chef demonstrated how to make Black Forest Cake. Then they served a big slice for everyone. Nice drive. Pretty lake. Delicious cake.
A longish drive along the Schwarzwald hohestrasse brings you to Mummelsee, a little lake with walks and boats. There's one giant tourist shop, a large and rather expensive hotel restaurant, and that's about it, really.
I probably wouldn't have drove here for the day but is definitely worth a stop here if you drive by. Walk around in 20 mins but pretty when the sun is shining.
Lake Mummelsee outside Baden Baden, Germay is like a sheet of glass. It is so still that you feel totally at peace.
