we love the beautiful, lush lawns that stretch to lovely rose gardens, flower beds, fountains, and includes a nice little cafe.
We went to the Wildpark in Bad Mergentheim with good friends a few months ago. Despite the light rain which meant less people, we had a wonderful time. We bought food (corn kernels) to give to some of the animals (there's a list of animals for which this food is appropriate on the box). The deer and wild boar were very appreciative! There are also sheep for younger children to pet. And you can see wolves and bears and owls in natural forest surroundings. Lovely! Highly recommended for people of all ages.
This is a great day out for any age. The animal enclosures are much larger than in most zoos and each one seemed to us to be well designed for the species living there. This might mean that you don't get to see an animal as they all have privacy areas but as the park is designed as a big loop, then you just go back later and try again. We went in sweltering heat and saw every animal at least once.To increase your chances of seeing all the animals, they have set feeding times in the morning and afternoon. So you can either follow the keeper round the entire loop, pick out the animals you want to see and be there for feeding time or arrive just afterwards if you want to miss the crowds but still catch the animals. Or you can just amble round at your own pace and see what happens. We liked that idea best. There's a fast food restaurant at the start/finish that was ok with reasonable prices. On the very (!) hot day we were there, the iced coffees/chocolates were very popular. There's also a snack place about half way round.Dogs are very welcome, though I felt sorry for them on the day we were there. I think, if possible, more places where the dogs could get a drink would be a very good idea. It isn't the zoo's fault that the dogs were overheated but as most of the owners seemed oblivious to the poor creatures, maybe the Wildpark could help them out.
Ein tolles Ausflugsziel.Mit sehr guten Führungen.Sehr gut besucht.
