The DeGraaf Nature Center is tucked in the woods about 2 miles from downtown Holland. The trails are open daily, but the Education Center is open Tuesday through Saturday. On Saturday of almost every weekend, things are happening. The Staff is great and tries hard to explain what is happening in Nature. A must during your visitn to Holland. The admission cost is very minimal, about $2 per person.
The staff is wonderful and the walking trails are beautiful. The rabbits are fun for the kids to play with.
Interesting walk in the woods. Many plants and animals an lovely environment.
We decided to visit this nature center since it was free and we wanted to do a little walking in the woods. We started the visit with a nice quiet picnic lunch at the center. The center is tucked back in next to a house so it's not real noticeable. After lunch, we went inside the building to have a look. GREAT place for kids!!!! Our kids are 23 and 19, but we all enjoyed it very, very much!! After viewing the live and stuffed animal exhibits, we ventured out on the trails. The trails were short enough for young hikers, but pretty enough for all. We saw black squirrels and a young deer while hiking. We have never seen black squirrels before so that was interesting to us. This is a wonderful place for a family to visit!!! It's hard to believe that it is free. We did put a small donation in the jug that day. Definitely a place to stop and visit!! A great place to teach children about nature, our land, animals, and our living world!!
We took two of our grandchildren here for a Saturday morning birdhouse making workshop. The naturalists were well prepared, kid sensitive, and very informative. After a brief talk about bird habitats, dos and don'ts in placing the bird feeders wewere turned loose to build and the naturalists and helpers circulated to give assistance where needed. After successfully completing the birdhouse we took a walk through the nature center trails following a pamplet supplied by the center. Easy to maneuver trails, the grandchildren were 4 and 6 at the time, and interesting things to see. A good 2+ hours of quality time.
Wonderful for little ones who's attention span is short! They love seeing the things up close!
Great place to take the kids out exploring. The trails around the area always inspire interest, and our daughter loved the nature center.
Theres not much to it but its cute. The trail is nice with parts a little overgrown but there are some neat things to look at.
An amazing place where children can safely interact with wild animals u dear the supervision of a trained professional. They also have miles of walking and hiking trails for the adventurous where a guide will show you all of the animals and flowers.
We drove up/down the street a couple of times before we found the entrance to the De Graaf Nature Center. This is a small nature center tucked away in a residential area. On the day we visited, we had the trails to ourselves. Part of the trail system is boardwalk and some are wood chip paths. There are a number of observation platforms overlooking small ponds. If you are looking for an out-of-the-way, easy walking nature hike this is the place.
