Lake Padden is a beautiful area. We enjoy taking our pooch to the dog park. While I've heard some complaints about aggressive dogs, we've never had a problem. It's also a perfect place to run. Grab your shoes and take a run around the lake!
Well maintained paved paths ideal for jogging/running. Beautiful sunrises and a perfect place to see the changing of the leaves in the fall time.
Beautiful fall weather on a Saturday brought out all kinds of people in droves : Picnicking families, walkers, joggers, cyclists, people walking dogs, you name it. The trails are not too steep means that this is popular walk for all ages. Given so many people are around, it is a safe area. The trails are suitably wide to accommodate everyone enjoying them. And the views are great as I hope the photos will attest.
We moved to the Bellingham area not long ago and decided to try new trails each week. We actually came to this park for the dog park but our dogs didn't enjoy it much. We found out most of the trail is off leash and that is heaven to our two dogs. Hiked it a few times after we found it. So far it is still our favorite for the dogs.
Lake Padden has a little bit of something for everyone; good trout fishing from shore or boat, a great labyrinth of hiking trails from easy to moderate, a great adventure play area for small children, plenty of bathrooms with flush toilets, a dog run area and even ball/soccer fields. Ample parking and a covered BBQ area. Worth the stop for a part day or day.
This lake was like scene from a movie. The lake was so calm with occasional rings when the fish would jump. The trees lining the lake looked like someone had picked each one out and placed them there perfectly. It is an extremely peaceful place to spend a couple of hours.
Like to run well manicured trails? This is the place to do it. Run with a partner and lock your car.
We hug here for several hours today. Lots of families and picnics happening, people on the water in boats, kayaks, SUP, floaties or whatever...really enjoyable.
Lake Padden is to Bellingham what Greenlake is to Seattle. You can go for a walk around the lake - about 2.6 miles, or continue and explore other areas and double the mileage. Very enjoyable place to go with friends, or just by yourself. We went on a rainy, misty day, and found solitude and serenity there. Enjoy the many birds around the lake and the picnic grounds. I guess it's different when the sun comes out! The dog park was a fun place to watch.
Easliy accessible all times of the year; allows you to get into the outdoors within minutes of downtown Bellingham, WA.
