Have driven past a million times but never been in. So today I took the time to walk around the gardens, and what a pleasure it was. So close to the main road, yet relatively quiet and peaceful. Some great walks through mature trees and gardens. Could be better signposted, but still difficult to get lost. Take the time to enjoy this experience
Big area and perfect for all types of outdoor activities like community, family, friends, party gathering and etc. Excellent for walking w/ or without dog, cycling, kids activities and more...Nice view w/ heaps of plants, trees, birds, playground, pool and many more. A must visit place in Palmerston North.
A perfect place to wander. Enjoy the Esplanade Railway. Excellent for cycling, walking the dog. Mostly very safe. Very well maintained. Great river track.
Bit area with lots to see and do. Liked the bush walks and can see that the children's park is having a revamp. Highest flying fox I have ever seen. We got to go on the train on a valentines night special trip - longest kids train I have been on so far.
The Esplanade is a wonderful spot to visit and relax in the tranquil bush like setting. I took my grand daughter and wife for an afternoon out and we just sat and relaxed in the sunshine while she played on the very good playground , then we strolled around under bush covered walkways enjoying each others company. A beautiful little spot
This place is a real gem. There are plenty of walks (shady and sunny), a fantastic playground, a paddling pool, a cafe with great food and nice icecreams, plenty of free parking and a model train that does a complete circuit. The paths that go along the river are lovely. Take the kids and enjoy a long afternoon. The rose garden is gorgeous too.
Great menu and service and a lovely ambience. Where else do you get 10 acres of park like gardens? Only open for dinner on weekends however
This is a wonderful park with a lot to offer. The children love the railway (runs school holidays & weekends - weather permitting) and is well worth the $2.50 charge. The playground suits a wide range of ages and is well maintained & the layout good for keeping tabs on where the kids are with seating available for picnics/relaxing. There are toilet facilities close by too. The park has wonderful walking tracks and a bird avairy which is also worth a look. There are rose gardens and a hot house too. A cafe is also centrally located at the park. Parking is plentiful & overall it's a great place to visit.
A pretty good cafe but every single time I've been there, it takes forever to be served & for the food to come out
