This lake is just minutes from Swiftcurrent Cabins. Every evening we were there, we walked down and enjoyed viewing moose in and around the lake. If you stay at Many Glacier or Swiftcurrent, don't miss enjoyg this little lake.
Almost a guaranteed moose sighting if you walk the trail to the lake at dawn or dusk. If the moose isn't at the east end of the lake keep going to the west side (just a little farther). The whole hike from the trailhead at the end of Swift Current Motor Inn's parking lot to the lake is about 40 minutes.
In our previous travels to places such as Yellowstone, Grand Teton NP, northern Minnesota, Isle Royale, and the U.P., we've searched for moose at various locations and were always disappointed to find none. Not so here!We stopped at this lake 3 days in a row (August 13-15) and saw at least 1 moose every time. The first time was in the middle of the afternoon, when you don't normally expect to see them, but both a female and bull moose were there in the center of the lake foraging for plants in the water. We returned the next evening and the bull moose was there again as a light rain fell. We were among the few people watching from the shore. The next morning, sure enough, the bull moose was there once more, on the far side of the lake, which was very still and great for photography with reflections on the surface. We also saw a female moose in a small pond near Two Medicine Lake on the southeast side of the park. All sightings were definitely highlights of the trip!
We were getting ready to leave as it has started snowing but were advised to take this little hike from Swiftcurrent Store to the lake to see Moose. We were pretty tired after 4 days of long hikes, but why not. It was just about a mile out and really pretty with the falling snow. Not too cold either and I am a wimp about being cold. We got to the lake and did not see the moose. We were told they had just left. It was still quite enjoyable and a very easy stroll. Not too crowded on this day. Suitable for most any ability.
We went here at 7 pm expecting to see moose and we did see a mother and a baby. We stayed until it started raining and we enjoyed to see how the baby ran for protection to his mother and both left the lake . I it was incredible. So it's true if you want to see moose go here and you will see them
We saw moose for the first time -- we visit the park every three years so I was very happy to finally see a moose on a hike.
Fantastic easy walk to the lake and we were rewarded by seeing moose; a bull, cow and calf. The bull walked down the lake shore right in front of us on his way to munching seaweed in the lake. It was an incredible experience. As if this wasn't enough a bald eagle flew right overhead. Wow
We were here August 19 and saw three moose -- two bull moose and one cow. This was about 5pm or so. In talking with others, you're apt to see them early mornings and late afternoons. I rated this excellent only because of the moose. The lake itself is not particularly scenic compared to others in the park. It's less than 10 minute walk from the Swiftcurrent trailhead at the end of the parking lot of the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn.
This was the place to see moose. They were usually here in the a.m. and in the evening. We saw one bull, a cow and a calf. We heard reports there was an additional cow and calf that were seen as well.Definitely worth the short hike from the Swiftcurrent parking lot.
This is the place to see moose in Glacier national park. Go very early or late in the day. We went around 7 pm and there was a moose with a calf. We watched them for a long time. Even if you don't see any moose, I would still take this very short hike as the scenery is beautiful. The lake surrounded with mountains is stunning and perfect for photos. This is a really short hike that starts next to the Swiftcurrent cabins.
