This was a magical experience. The wine tour was informative, the wine was amazing, and the vegetarian meal was some of the best food we've ever had. We were surrounded by fantastic people and had great conversations across the languages. If we're ever back in this area, we will do this tour again for sure! Thank you Alfonso and Patrizia!
We enjoyed a wonderful trip to this beautiful vineyard. The wine, food and hospitality was superb, and the visit was one of the highlights on our very enjoyable trip to Italy. Alfonso our guide was not only superb and knowledgeable, but affable, friendly and charming. The owner and host Patrizia was also very warm and welcoming and had prepared a beautiful selection of small plates to enjoy, in fact there was so much food, we didn't need to have dinner afterwards! Patrizia was also very generous with her wine, and not only did we "taste" it, we enjoyed quite a bit of it! The whole experience was superb. The vineyard is organic and overlooks Vietri sul mare, not only does it have vines, there are a variety of other produce growing on the land, sfusato lemons, pomegranates, wild asparagus, fennel and many others. If you are on the Amalfi coast, do not miss this, it's very affordable and will be a memory you will cherish.
We have thoroughly enjoyed it. The setting, the wine and to top it all the passion which ia literally tangible. Visiting is a must when in the area
What a wonderful team, to get us to see this vineyard. From the tour and translator Alfonso to the host Patrizia who not only cooked an amazing meal but also paired it with her great wines taken from the premises. Food was excellent and I bought lots of wine that was shipped back to the USA with no problems. Amazing views, food, wine and personal time with great people! It was a highlight in our honeymoon trip to the Amalfi coast and we recommend this to be added to your itinerary if you go to Vietri Sul Mare.
Even in the off-season, I called Patrizia while in the area and my friends (and dogs) and I were welcomed with open arms to her vineyard. I have never experienced such pride and personal attention in this local organic business! Her wines' quality were above many of the other Italian wines we have tried. Patrizia's daughter, Valentina also helped with the full course (homemade) lunch. She even offered to drive our wine and the ladies back to where our cars were parked! Overall, a pleasant and relaxing surprise that we absolutely cannot wait to return to.
Cannot speak highly enough of the wonderful time we spent at Le Vigne di Ratio. Met by Alfonso and Valentina ,we were transported by car to the vinyard, Alfonso our guide explained the history of Vietri, how the Vinyard came about, the making of the wine, organic process and so much more, and also answered every question we asked, and along with this he was such a nice friendly guy. Now to the meal, set in a most fabulous setting, just four of us enjoying an amazing meal lovingly prepared and cooked by Patrizia the owner of the vinyard. The starters just kept coming and each and every one of them delicious .I cannot go through every course but each one in turn beautiful, amazing, wonderful. the wines we tasted were very good,so good we purchased some from a small local shop to bring home Everything was thought of, it was a bit chilly when we visited and we were given blankets to wrap round our legs, ceramic napkin wraps with our names and date of visit, as we finished our meal Patrizia joined us along with Alfonso and we just sat and chatted. A truly perfect evening. Thanks for the receipes you supplied, the caprese cake is fast becoming a favourite..
I have an active imagination- but I could never have dreamed of a more perfect winery experience then what we had at Le Vigne di Raito. We thought we would try our luck and book day of. All of our emails were answered promptly and we were told we would be picked up at 5pm. We were pokey in our departure because we assumed our ride would be late. We were wrong. We were then swept away up the coast for a quick tour of the town (in perfect english!) and then welcomed into the vineyards. A translator was provided and we learned about the art of producing organic wines. Each time we turned a corner the views of the Amalfi coast took our breath away. We ended our tour and were guided on to the patio where we personally met the owner Patrizia and her daughter. We felt so at home and relaxed. The view was astounding. Each wine that we tried was paired with an appetizer that was also made by Patrizia. What I was most taken by is that we didn’t feel like costumers- we felt like guests. Patrizia and her family welcomed us into their family for an evening. I wouldn’t trade this experience for the world. It is my most recommended activity from my visit to Italy.
Our visit to Le Vigne di Raito last night will probably turn out to be the highlight of our three week trip. As one other reviewer said, I really couldn't have imagined how wonderful this would turn out to be. We had a fascinating guide, Alfonso, who turned out to be a graduate student at the University of Naples in history and philosophy. He has a natural enthusiasm for teaching and we learned a tremendous amount, not just about winemaking/organic winemaking, but about the history and culture of the area. The owner, Patrice, is a lovely person who knocked herself out to make us delightful small plates and spend time with us.The wine was delicious, as was the food. Sitting on Patrice's terrace at a beautifully set table, looking out over an incredible view of the sea, drinking wine, eating wonderful food...really indescribably amazing and far beyond any expectations we had. But perhaps the best part was talking with Alfonso and Patrice. They are both fascinating people with wide-ranging interests, very easy to talk with and to learn from. Our two college-age daughters loved it as well and learned so much, trying new food and tasting wine. Patrice is renovating a house so that visitors may stay at her vineyard. I would so love to be able to stay there in the future.
This is a wonderful experience from start to finish. Alfonso & Valentina picked us up from the hotel to take us up into the vineyard. Half way up we left the car behind and was taken to see the most beautiful views of the bay at Vietri and Alfonso filled us in with the history of the town. From there we were taken to the vineyard and the magic began!!As we climbed higher and higher into the vineyard the views got more breathtaking, and the story of how the vineyard was born unfolded. The first stop was about half way up when we were welcomed by some ice cold Rose and nibbles while looking at at the views!Next we were welcomed by Patrizia (the owner of the vineyard) into her beautiful home, and then came the food!! This was all home cooked organic (from the land of the vineyard) traditional Italian food, and it was in abundance which was naturally accompanied by the beautiful wines produced in the vineyard - ( 09 year was my favorite!!). We had great debates with Patrizia (Alfonso translated) and left the vineyard very happy people!! We were also able to purchase the wine we had been drinking.!!I would recommend that if you only do one tour while staying in Vietri -do this one - you will never forget the experience.
My Best friend and her Husband came here on her honeymoon and told us that we had to stop there while in the Amalfi Coast. I am so glad we did!! We met up with Alfonso in Vietri Sul Mare who gave a private tour of the area and churches. After that we were escorted to the vineyard where we were given a tour of the vineyards and lemon groves that had the most stunning views! Once at the top we were greeted by Valentina, the owner Patrizia's daughter, and some yummy wine to start off our evening. When we arrived at the house, we met Patrizia who had been cooking up a storm. The table was filled with the most delicious foods we had in Italy! From the meats, cheeses, stuffed pepper with tuna, eggplant, anchovies puffs... I could go on and on and that was just the appetizers! Not to mention the amazing wine! Per my friends’ recommendation, she made for us a pasta dish with anchovies that was SOOO Good!!!! I'm not that big of a fan of anchovies and I would fly there right now for seconds! The entree followed with turkey, peppers and olives, so simple, but so good. After dinner they joined us for dessert and coffee and told us more about the history of the grounds and future projects. Before we left we each bought a couple bottles to enjoy for the rest of the trip and to take home as gifts. Thank you so much Patrizia, Valentina and Alfonso for such a wonderful evening! It truly was one of the best parts of our trip that we will remember for years to come. Next time I am in Italy I will definitely be returning!
