In this small museum just in front of the Cathedral there are some beautifull paintings of Beato Angelico like one of the three Annunciazione he made. From outside it seems a very low profile museum but once inside...... Absolutely not to be missed if you like paintings.
Very small museum, but contains many masterpieces: ghirlandaio and fra angelico. Cortona is so small and doesn't offer many places to get in- everything is outside (the views and piazzas), so I think this place is a nice stop to make.Doesn't offer an international student discount.
Gorgeous, amazing art collection! We enjoyed the paintings greatly. Beautiful alterpieces to behold. There is much to see in this small museum.
For such a small museum, the art work featured in the Museo Diocesano is actually quite impressive. We were a bit disappointed with Cortona's Etruscan museum, but this little gem was a very pleasant surprise.
This is a nice museum, well worth the 5 Euro entrance fee. The two Fra Angelicos are superb and there were a number of other nice paintings by a local artist. The basement room (on the west side) should not be missed; the basement room on the east contains vestments that one of our party loved. Nice views from the top of the wall looking west.
We stayed in Cortona two full days so added this museum to our activities. We enjoyed this museum between our wanderings around town.
Had to try this museum as per recommendation from fellow travelers we met in a restaurant. Most of the display explanations were written in English...probably in the 1950's. Unfriendly receptionist, dinghy, dusty displays. Nothing really stands out...just an ok way to spend a rainy afternoon.
Lovely little museum close to the Cathedral & great views over the valley. Inside the building itself is worth seeing but the small art collection is simply stunning as are the embroidered vestments. Well worth the entrance fee.
The Fra Angelicos there are amazing. It really is a privilege to be able see them. And the little museum is never crowded!
The Signorelli Lamentation and Last Supper are exceptional, and the two Fra Angelicos, lovely. Also some beautiful earlier paintings. Small but reasonably priced.
