This is a nice casino. The layout of the slot machines is a little confusing compared to other casinos I have been in. You will walk quite a bit to find your slot for the value you want to spend. Atmosphere is okay but I did not find it anything too special.
We like this casino, and prefer it to some of the larger casinos in Blackhawk! We think the drink servers are especially attentive, and the drinks are not watered down!! For the price, the buffet is EXCELLENT! We like the lunch/brunch offerings, but sometimes have the dinner buffet because they include crab legs!! The servers in the buffet are extremely nice and helpful!!
All staff was great, nice and friendly. Didn't smell cigarette smoke at all . This casino and hotel looks and smells new.
It is an okay casino layout rather sloppy...not as nice as should be..service terribly slow. Not really many people gambling as nothing was paying off.
This review is for the Season's Buffet at the casino. It was getting late on a Sunday night. I suppose I have spent to much time at casinos in Vegas, because I did not think all the dining options in Blackhawk to be pretty much over by 10pm. I have Celiac Disease and have to be very selective as to what and where I dine when not at home. First off, I need an establishment that understands that it is not just a mere allergy, but a life threatening disease and the actions of kitchen staff must treat preparation as such.I asked the cashier if they had an Allergy Book/menu as most restaurants now days do. She said, no and asked why I needed it. So she called the Chef and told him I have CD and asked him to come out. Generally, I know what I can and can not eat, yet sometimes there is an issues as simple as does the spices have wheat in it. Before we reached a table, the Chef was there to meet me.THE CHEF WALKED ME THROUGH THE BUFFET, EXPLAINING PREPARATION AND INGREDIENTS OF ANY DISH IN QUESTION. That is CUSTOMER SERVICE! Of course my selection was limited, but satisfying. I did not get his name, but I thank him for his care and concern. I also thank the cashier. She took my inquiry seriously and had excellent follow through. As for the foods I could eat... they were fair, but filling. I wish places would include labeling as to the health issue ingredients included in items. That would have made it even better.
The casino is large, clean, lots of new slots. They give promotion money if you play a lot. Ordered a drink and it was made well. Hard to find staff if you have a problem with your machine. They have a very good buffet, 1/2 price for seniors on Monday and Tuesday.
We use to think The Lodge buffet was the best in Blackhawk or Central City, but now I'd have to give the title of best buffet to the Ameristar. We've ate at buffet at the Lodge a few times in the past couple of months. They are serving less chicken and fewer beef items and more pork and shellfish items although sometimes you can get a piece of fried cod (or at least think that is what the fish is). The problem is The Lodge has so much business the kitchen can't keep up with it. However the waiters/waitresses and busboys/girls are still some of the best service attendants in Blackhawk and Central City. They are always on top of keeping your drinks filled and taking finished eaten off of dishes removed from the table. The main reason I have lowered the Lodge’s rating is because of cleanliness and safety. I was getting salad and when an item would fall off the utensil (I was using to stock my plate) and onto the line the line person would just pick it up and put it back into the container. Also the containers holding the vinegar & oil had not been wiped down and you get your hands oily by handling them. Every time we have visited the Lodge Buffet the oil and vinegar containers are never clean and wiped down. Also the people working behind the line and the salad bar are not so friendly anymore. The meals are about $18.50 a person and I don't feel we’re getting our money's worth there, especially when you can go right next door to the Ameristar and not have to wait in a long line to get in and have a cleaner atmosphere with a better selection of food for less money and the people are super friendly and hospitable at the Ameristar. Also The Lodge's slot machines and video poker are some of the tightest in Blackhawk and Central City and there are a group of Russian speaking people that go there that are very rude. We were there one night playing the slots when a Russian speaking person wanted to play a slot an older lady was playing. The older lady wouldn't get up and move because a Russian woman wanted to play that slot. Finally the Russian speaking woman insulted the elderly lady and pushed up against her. About that time the elderly lady's daughter stood up and said, "You don't talk to my mother like that." Everybody was watching what was going on. The staff of the Lodge came to stop the pending fight. There were several people that told the Lodge Staff that the older lady was in the right, but the Lodge took the side of the Russians (probably because the Russians gamble there much of the time) and wouldn’t let the elderly lady continue gambling. So we will probably not eat or spend the night at the Lodge anymore since we don't feel safe there and the food is only mediocre.
My husband and I stayed at the Lodge and played slots. Which we love. I won a couple small jack pots, enough to keep me playing. And I like that. Gotta give a little! And The Lodge did. Casino was clean, staff awesome. Had a blast playing here. A lot of new slot games. Had FUN!!! We will be back!!!
We ate dinner at White Buffalo Grill, there is no place to review the restaurant so I am doing it here.My husband had the Lamb which was very good. I had the shrimp and crab special which was just ok. Service was nice. Good wine list. The casino itself isn't as nice as Ameristar.
One of the better buffets in Black Hawk. A decent wait time to get in but the staff doesn't make you feel rushed once seated. Nice selection of food.
