We were really surprised to read your review as the gentleman you are referring to has always been friendly, welcoming, accommodating and well liked by our customers. The $10 tasting fee you mentioned is refundable upon a bottle being purchased and has been introduced recently for groups of 6 or more people. As the tables near the toy area had been reserved and these customers were due to arrive any moment that’s why your children were invited to use our balls and quoits instead as it was a beautiful day. We’re really sorry your visit didn’t match your previous experience at Captains Creek and we do hope to see you again.
Recently visited Captains Creek again and would have to say it is definitely getting better with age. The wood fired pizza was amazing ,great service , relaxed atmosphere , friendly courteous staff. Would highly recommend this to anyone.
Thanks Belinda. Great to hear your group really enjoyed themselves in our lounge area. Looking forward to seeing you back again.
Very sorry to hear of your comments about your recent experience at our cellar door. It was surprising to read as our staff member you are referring to has always been very welcoming and friendly towards our visitors. We do hope to see you again.
Thank you for your feedback Yulia. We too are disappointed to hear your comments. Your group of 10 made a booking for 1.30pm and decided to begin with wine tastings at the bar. After wine tastings several of your friends then ordered a cheese platter and a tasting plate, requested as an entree. When these entree's were finished the main courses were then prepared and served. We're sorry to hear that some of your friends were 'starving'. Our chef prides herself on preparing and cooking fresh produce daily.
We went here for Sunday lunch for my husbands birthday. We arrived early so I could enjoy some wine tastings. Excellent friendly service and I tasted all the wines I wanted. It was a cold wet day and we sat next to the fire whilst we perused the menu. We both opted for the sausage and mash which did not disappoint. Once finished we settled once again in front of the fire with a glass of red and a coffee - I could have stayed all afternoon but sadly we had to make our way home. A wonderful, cosy place that I highly recommend.
You certainly chose a beautiful day to visit us at Captains Creek. Sitting on our verandah overlooking the vines is so relaxing. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Really pleased you enjoyed your time at our cellar door. Hope to see you again.
Glad to hear you enjoyed our wood fired pizza's and organic wines. Thank you for your comments.
I had read up on Captain's Creek and was curious to visit. We arrived on a cool rainy autumn day and opened the door to a fabulously cosy and welcoming bar/restaurant. We were greeted with such enthusiasm and warmth that we decided to stay for a tasting and lunch and soak in the atmosphere. The owners are delightful and so to are their extremely professional and polite staff - "nothing is impossible" I was told and that was the truth. The wines are very good, a small vineyard and very boutique wines. The owners brother has an even smaller winery close by and his wines were on tasting as well - also delicious. The food was also very good, as a starter we shared a zucchini, blue cheese pasta which was stunning, my favourite dish of the day! There is an open fire here with comfortable sofas and fairy lights on the ceiling! This is the sort of place where you want to bring out the scrabble board, pour yourself a big glass of wine and stay for the day! I highly recommend a visit here - it will be a highlight for sure!
