My husband, 1 yr old son & I took the 1/2 day trip with Joe. He kept us amused & entertained the entire trip. I was afraid it would be too tame for my "race car driver" teen but he said he really enjoyed it & was glad we did it. The scenery on the drive to Colorado River Runs was beautiful as was the scenery on the raft trip. We will have great memories to take home!
Our family had an awesome time with Ian, our guide. He was very entertaining, knew so much about the river and surrounding areas and has been a guide for many years! We brought our kiddos (7 &9) rafting for the first time and he made sure each had a memorable experience! We also love the fact that it is a small local business in a small (and we mean small) town! The company has been around forever and we see why! The kids loved all of their animals too! As someone else mentioned, Ian had to stop every once in a while to slow us down. Because of the high water levels the 1/2 day trip would go much faster if he didn't stop and show us the scenery! We did get to see a Bald Eagle which was beautiful!! Follow the directions on their website...they are easy to follow. We will be back!
July 2014 was our 2nd time out with Colorado River Runs. Our party included 2 adults, one 13 year old and one 10 year old. The kids are bigger thrill seekers than the adults, and were worried that class 2 rapids would be "boring", but our guide Johnny went out of his way to make the trip more exciting for them. All the kids were in the very front of the boat, and Johnny made certain they felt every bump and splash. He even stopped so they could try a modest cliff jump. (There was a 25 foot jump as well, but they weren't feeling that brave.) He was very knowledgeable about the route and shared all sorts of info with us as he steered us down the Colorado River.Getting to CRR is a bit of an adventure, as it really is in the middle of nowhere, but the drive is gorgeous. Cell phones wont work of much of it, so don't rely on them for guidance or help- print your directions in advance. Allow the full amount of recommended time to get there- the website is really useful. Other tips- don't forget sunblock or bug spray. We skipped the bug spray and that turned out to be a bad choice. If you forgot anything, CRR sells snacks, glasses cords, waterproof cameras, etc., and none is ridiculously priced. If you have kiddos that like animals, don't forget to meet the 3 donkeys that live in the barn next door. And you may be recruited into a game of Frisbee by one of the resident dogs!
We went on a very nice trip with Ian and Joe. They were extremely nice and did an amazing job of making the trip fun and exciting. They are both experts with decades of experience and it shows. I would do this again and again without question. Highly recommended!
This was the second time on this trip with this outfitter. The location & setting are fun. Our guide, Ian, was super terrific. I would do this trip with this outfitter again and again. We did a full day rafting.
This was a really fun raft ride and our guide was excellent. There were ten of us and the youngest is six so we did the float trip on the Colorado but it was really fun. And our guide stopped so we could jump from a 25 foot cliff into the river! Even my 13 year old grand daughter jumped. It was scary but glad I did it! The river is beautiful and it really was a wonderful memory made with my family.
These guys are awesome! We went out for a half day raft trip with Ian of Colorado River Runs. Ian was entertaining, informative, and definitely knew what he was doing. This was a great trip for us first-time rafters. Ian instructed us on when to paddle, but did some of the more skilled paddling himself. He pointed out a pair of bald eagles on our trip, as well as other wildlife. We stopped to jump off a cliff and to take a look at a historic landmark. We had a blast! I am already ready for another raft trip thanks to these guys and how much fun they made sure we had!
We had a blast with Colorado River Runs! A good guide can make (or break) your rafting experience. Their guides were awesome! Kenny was informative and pointed out lots of things we didn't learn on previous runs down the same stretch of the river. It's a great run for beginners and kids. Not a ton of paddling and plenty of time to take in the scenery! We signed up for a full-day trip and would have been just as happy with a half-day, since the full day is the same stretch of river twice.
Our family went on this trip in early June with our wonderful guide, Ian. He was so fun and very knowledgeable and experienced which made it even better. The waters were really high so we it was a little quicker than normal but still really fun for our first experience. It is a little ways out there but a beautiful, scenic drive. They offer a $4.00 discount per person with the brouchures found in the resort. Very reasonable and definitely recommended!
We had an excellent time with Colorado River Runs! We did the Upper Colorado with 4 adults and 3 kids (7, 6 and 3) and our guide was Ian. Ian was fantastic and wonderful with the kids. The ride was great and we saw lots of wildlife (including a bald eagle) and we jumped the cliff! All in all, an amazing adventure with thoughtful, helpful and awesome guides. We will definitely be coming back!
