The Nutcracker is always a treat, no matter what! I was so happy to see a woman conductor, unfortunately, she was late for at least 4 entrances, the dancers were so professional, they just went right ahead as if they were dancing to music any way. What a shame the dancers can not still enjoy the space of the Wang Center's stage.....they have made an excellent transition. Don't miss the Boston Ballet!
I've been going to Boston Ballet performances since I was a little girl, and I still love to go! The dancing is incredible, the artistic team redoes the choreography every so often, and the building is beautiful. My favorite shows are the non-traditional ones, though The Nutcracker, Cinderella, and others have been just as great (though more about the story and less about the art). Definitely go see if you're in town!
Many big cities have ballet, and I have visited a lot in the USA and in Europe. I have to say that I was not disappointed by the Boston Ballet company. If you enjoy the ballet, do support the local Boston Ballet company.
Very nice production. Wonderful that children are given such an opportunity to perform. The performance was very good but could be a a little tighter. Routines where the performers were supposed to have arms and legs in sync were a little off. Sometimes the routines that were supposed to be in symmetry or as mirror images, balanced on the stage from side-to-side were a bit off as well.
Brilliant dance in a really interesting theatre - a great night out and a great thing to do for the Christmas season
While in Boston my wife and I went to the Boston Ballet to see the Nutcracker. WOW! First of all, the Ballet House is magnificent. The acoustics are perfection. The performance was outstanding. Enough superlatives? Anyway, everything was great. Next year if in Boston, make reservations for this wonderful evening.
Classic but lots of original touch. Impressive performers. I love this group. Also, I want to give them my support for their involvement in the community, and the fact they make an effort to create an affordable opportunities for young students to be exposed to their work (and also for free, at the park) is great, thanks for that.
I might not be a critic of the ballet, but from what I can tell, and to a casual observer, the Boston Ballet's performance of the 'Nutcracker' was excellent. It moved quickly, told the story with a bit of humor and was accompanied by a good orchestra. Enjoyed it.
I have been to Boston many times and have seen as I thought to all the interesting places. After my flight to Miami I and my husband decided to stay in Boston to see the Nutcracker in Boston Ballet Opera house! We have heard a lot of good reviews about Boston ballet and that it is worth seeing, but as the prices are a bit high (compared to other theaters, etc.) we were constantly delaying the visit! I can tell you that the show was beyond our expectations! So beautiful, the dancers are so talented, the costumes, decorations, work of the musicians.. Everything was fantastic! We were a bit sick after the trip and before the performance really hesitated if we should go, cause I had high temperature, but it was such an amazing performance - I forgot for these couple of hours about my illness and just enjoyed the show! We highly recommend it to everyone! Thank you, Boston ballet! You not only give people opportunity to enjoy every minute of the show, but educate them, give them opportunity to enjoy the music of one of the world's greatest composers - Tchaikovsky!
Try the new Boston Ballet at the Opra House. The music, costumes and dance and spectacular. Be ware as tickets are pricey and seats in the balcony are small.
