Boston has opened up it's waterfront. You can walk miles along the waterfront. You will here people in Boston talk of the waterfront. That usually means from somewhere around the Marriott hotel to South Station. However, you will also here people talk of the Seaport district. This area is the newest area in Boston. I like to get to the seaport by walking to the waterfront just past the International Hotel, pop over the closed bridge near Hooks Fish Co. and take a left at the Daily catch restaurant, pass the Federal Courthouse and continue on following the water until you get to the Seaport area near Legal Seafood and Delfrisco's steakhouse. Take a hubway bike if you don't want to walk.
Always something going on and a great place to sit and people watch. Ferries coming and going and life passing by.
There's something for everyone on the waterfront. Great views, tasty places for coffee, plenty of shopping opportunities and some fab people watching spots. Book a whale watching trip ... Really great views of the whales and well worth the money.
As you approach this area of Boston you see there are all types of boats here, from little private ones to very large ones that offer whale watching tours, fishing trips or just a boat tour of Boston waterfront and up the river and back. We just sat down and watched all the different types and size of boats moving about and also across the water we saw passenger planes of different sizes land and take off from Logan airport. We saw these guys that were skate boarding around the pier area not bothering if they just missed mothers and babies in pushchairs or anyone that got in their way even though the signs on the lamp posts clearly say no skate boarding? But unlike the UK the police arrived and guys disappeared as if like magic and was never seen again all the time we were there. We tried to eat at three different restaurants but were unsuccessful we guess as it was Saturday night so bought an ice cream instead. We saw a wedding reception high up which we guessed was taking place in an outside hotel roof area? As it was now dark we left this now peaceful waterfront area and headed back to the subway so glad we had found this great stretch of water in Boston City.Thank you for reading this John & Sue Webb Eastbourne UK
We stayed at the Intercontinental in Boston in a beautiful waterfront room. Boston Harbour and the waterfront is outstanding. As it was Christmas time we did not use the water taxis but had done on a previous visit in the summer time which took us straight to our hotel.
Start from South Irish neighbourhood and continue up to Italian district, if still some strength left after spaghetti dinner - ride to Cambridge area to finish the day at lovely student park
Good bars, restaurants, and plenty to see and admire. You can take a casual walk around and watch the sunset come down. Perfect spot to relax !
So beautiful, great place to sit and watch the boats or check out the yachts as your drinking an after dinner coffee and dessert from Maria's or Mike's pastry!
A lot of socializing in this area makes place safe, well turists providing. Terrific view on the Bay, watching planes activities at Logan Airport or watercrafts.Good photo opportunities.
