People were VERY helpful & courteous. Enjoyed it very much and is a terrific place to take kids. My great grandchild loved it!
My friend and I took our 3 year old grandsons to the Bug Museum. They are pretty young, but they thoroughly enjoyed it. They especially liked using the big magnifiers to look at bugs, butterflies, beetles etc They also liked the live Butterflies. Everything is displayed very nicely. It's clean and well kept. I look forward to going back again. It is free, amazingly so, but does take donations.
Small free museum, definitely worth a trip. My children loved the reptile room and Cecil the giant turtle. The lady working was very nice and took out a gecko to let my daughter touch. We spent about an hour there and enjoyed learning about all the bugs.
Our grand daughters want to go there every time they visit us. Great museum of bugs plus live animals. Lots of educational displays. It's free, but we always buy something fun from the gift shop.
What a fun place to stop and spend some time! We really enjoyed looking at all of the bugs and the reptiles that were on display. They have a small store that we also purchased some items from. The lizards are so interesting to watch and the giant tortise is something you don't see everyday. Don't miss it if you are in the area!
Bremerton isn't known as a tourist destination, unless you're a big warship fan. (Not I) so this Bug Museum was a real score. Small but well done- I learned a lot and my daughter really enjoyed it. Count on going slow and digesting info as you go, they cover a lot of territory per square foot. Also a great place to buy plants that eat- you guessed it- BUGS.
You can leave the kids at home because there are already plenty of kids there. Seriously, I went by myself and really enjoyed my 20 minute self-guided tour. It's free, but if you look hard you can find a donation jar. Lots of bug-related stuff for sale. T-shirts, posters, ant farms, etc. The building is small, as is the parking lot. If the lot is full, so is the museum, so come back in 15 minutes. It's across the street from where they dock the mothballed aircraft carriers, which is something to look at for a minute or two while you're waiting for a parking spot to open up.By the time you are ready to leave you will want to make a dollar or two donation just to support what they are doing there. If not, no problem.
I like to take my kids here. You only need about an hour to see it all, but the kids enjoy it, and you can't beat the price. They do have a gift store also, which is probably what keeps them in business. They sell bird houses, butterfly houses, toad houses, stuffed animals, t-shirts, caterpillar to butterfly kits, tadpole to frog kits, ant farms, bug toys, candy and even edible cricket & worm snacks! The museum has a large ant farm covering one wall, magnifying glasses to examine dead bugs encased in plastic, a large chalkboard just for fun, an iguana, a tortoise, spiders, a reptile room with various reptiles (It's very warm in there!), and more. They only thing I wish were different, is that the animals on exhibit had better habitats.
The Bug Museum is Awesome! Kid friendly, fun and educational. One of the owners was there with "Uncle Larry the snake". He was great with kids and had my 4 year old granddaughter holding Uncle Larry and enjoying it!! Highly recommend!
The bug museum is much smaller than I expected, but the animals that they had were awesome! They had stick bugs, a HUGE iguana, tortoises, and elephant nosed turtle (super cute!), Tarantulas, Painted lady butterflies, beetles, a huge ant farm, and a lot more. Definitely worth the trip for a bug enthusiast. They also had a lot of great science/education kits for purchase too. So if you need a great animal or geologist project for your kids, this is a good place to start.
