Overall, I was a little disappointed with thie gardens. The exotic fruit trees area is nicely labelled, so it was interesting to see so many for the first time. We even saw star fruit, which was a first outside of a grocery store. The rest of the grounds are nice enough, but nothing else is labeled. I do expect to learn something when visiting botanical gardens, so was disappointed. There is a pond with turtles and native birds. We were able to get very close to a Great Blue Heron. This is a nice enough spot to visit, especially if you are already planning a trip to the Robinson Preserve across the street. Honestly, I wouldn't go out of my way to see or, nor would I recommend it to plant lovers. Perhaps it would be a pretty spot for a picnic lunch.
We hosted our wedding here in 2008 and now live close by and visit frequently with my kids. Beautiful, vast grounds, clean playground and picnic area.
What a beautiful hideaway. I'm an artist, nature and animal lover. And finding this place was like finding a piece (peace) of Heaven on Earth. Hope it will always be. It's perfect
This free little gem is tucked away where you have to look to find it. It’s not large, but they have done wonders with what they have. Some of the plants and trees are arranged as beautiful islands in the middle of the attractive lawn. Even in January, we saw many plants in blossom or in bud. The collection of exotic fruits was wonderful and I’m sure contributes to the knowledge of varieties that do well locally. We watched an anhinga fishing in the small lake for a while. A playground area is available for children and a family was setting up for a party when we arrived around 11 AM on a Sunday. The children’s area is separated from most of the adult exhibits, a nice touch. It must be stunning when the long row of plumeria are in bloom!
Used to be such a beautiful place to stroll, now it is covered in unkept plants and wasted potential. The catus area was sad it was so full of weeds and unhappy cacti. For the free admission it's ok for a quick stroll and a swing by the lake. But don't expect a real botanical garden or you will be disappointed,
I'm thinking it takes a different kind of person to really enjoy botanical gardens--even the simple ones. And we are those people. I confess I've never met a botanical garden I didn't like and the Palma Sola was just wonderful. We spent an hour or so there and took many, many pictures and enjoyed looking at all the plants and unusual fruit trees. We had a ball. Having said that, I do put in a suggestion that has applied to most of the gardens I visit. You need to put identifying signs on every tree and plant in the garden. Over and over we spot something interesting and want to know what it is. Many were identified, of course, and added much to our pleasure. But my motto is "No garden ever ever had too many signs." Having said that, I strongly recommend Palma Sola to anyone who loves botanical gardens. Even the "lesser" ones are just fine.
This botanical park, has trails a exotic fruit orchard, many migratory birds, ponds, a wide variety of local flora and terrific scenes to photograph or paint. The Galleria is available for weddings and special events and also offers classes in yoga.
Gardens are limited to a small area, mostly around the building, which is well-designed for special events (art shows, etc) and small weddings.
Botanical park that is great for special functions with inside and outdoor facilities that can be rented for special events.
I don't know about you, but my holidays are normally a bit frantic. I rush around trying to see everything I can, never really stopping to rest and relax. When I came across this place I decided to check it out. We parked up and had a stroll around. The gardens were immaculate and varied. There is a big lake in the middle, a couple of gazebos to sit in, picnic facilities and some of the most beautiful plants I have ever seen. There is a play park for children and toilet facilities too.Clearly not many people know about this place as there weren't many other people in the gardens. After an hour or so here I felt wonderfully relaxed. I would definitely visit again
