A Nicklaus course but playable and, to my surprise, enjoyable. I've played a number of Nicklaus courses and found them to be too difficult for most golfers. The design, conditioning, routing, and speed of greens were better than a lot of courses in this area. I could play this course often and not grow tired.
The continuose turnover of policies and personnel has made this dinning experience . You don't know what your going to get. lets hope they get it right this time
I have eaten in the main restaurant here when there have been special events but, until last year, not the club's café. The Café is a real treat. Wonderful food at very reasonable prices. The bar too is a very friendly venue. Overall the amenities at the club are exceptional.
The new owner has cleared out a lot of the foliage/undergrowth which opens up the views and makes for less lost balls. A Jack Nicklaus signature course with a fabulous layout on the front 9 and a less striking back 9. Private, but during their new member drive I think you can get on through GolfNow.
wonderful ambience, food is imaginative as well as very tasty. Priced reasonably and service is excellent.
We're members of GHGC, and have been for nine years. We've had a variety of Chef's over the years, but we now (March 2014) have an excellent Chef on board with a good menu selection. Staff is good as well.
Food is marginally good....drinks are skimpy and overpriced. Too many buffets and not enough open menus. Is more like a municipal golf course than a country club
Played a great round of golf at this gem of a course. Lovely facilities, very friendly and helpful staff that made us feel welcome from the moment we drove up to the bag drop. The course is in great shape, and would be good for all but the lowest handicappers. It is in the middle of a large development, but it is so well positioned that the houses are either unobtrusive or completely hidden. It is a private club, but they do accept Internet tee times...used Golfnow and got about 25% off the published rate. Would definitely go back if I visit the St Augustine/Daytona Beach area again
This is my second review rating of this club. I gave it a "Poor" rating the first go around. As a long time resident and member of Grand Haven, I can only say that "A new broom sweeps clean". All of the staff are new and energized. The food, service, management and course superintendent are upbeat, professional and turning this site around. The golf course is returning to its original excellent condition and my friends are now supporting the needed and improved dining room. The restrooms and other areas are clean and inviting. I now feel proud to recommend this place to people.
Have been here for many years and have seen many changes. The golf course was once a US Open qualifying course and was in fabulous condition because of the excellent course superintendent. When course was taken over by Hampton Golf, everything started to go down. Restaurant has also been in a steady decline. You can't operate and present a quality overall product when your only open for a few days a week. This does not attract quality chefs, wait staff and bar attendants. They would have to have a second job. Have heard too many times that they now have a new great chef. It's way over time to prove it. Overall facility and restrooms are very clean.
