White sand and pretty shades of blue! This beach had the most beautiful view. Highly recommend to get a fresh pineapple drink. Picked from the tree and cut open ans served - freshest pineapple juice ever!
Be careful with the offshore waves that can pull you in. I think they are called undertow? But just be careful if you are afraid of open water!
Great spot to go for the day. Truly awesome beach. Try to avoid Sundays though as the locals are out in force and the beach can be very busy. During the week is best. Also some good food vendors although watch out for a little price gouging.
My husband and I went to playa grande last month and it was great, beautiful beach, great food if you ever go to playa grande ask for chaleco he is a waiter and a very friendly guy. I recommend it.
Went for the day to this beach with some girlfriends. There are little places to shop and you can have lunch brought down to the beach & set up for you... along with drinks throughout the day. It was wonderful. Surf boards are avaliable if you want to rent them... since this beach tends to have rougher waves. Also, great for finding shells.
Full of tourists, mostly from France and Italy, but a magnificent long beach. You can shop from local artists, get local fresh food, including lobster, fish, etc., all delivered to you by friendly people who look out for you all day long. Massage is available. Try the local treats that vendors will bring by. Beautiful!
Staff: We were greeted with a host (not sure if it’s because we took the hotel shuttle) who takes the time to show you around and get you chairs (only cost a few US dollars) and food. Very friendly but a few beach vendors that are persistent. We did buy the ginger and coconut candy which was very good.Atmosphere / Food: Playa Grande is a smaller beach with a few shacks that serve food such as lobster, shrimp, rice and plantains (the local favorites) but no breakfast so if you go early be sure to eat before you get there. To note, every shack has the same menu. The food was good and they set up a table for us on the beach and brought us drinks from the bar. This is a similar menu as Playa de Boca. Also, you pay after you’re done with all of your ordering for the day. They accept Pesos and USD.
Great beach to visit for a day when around the area. Lots of mini restaurants to choose from. Long almost empty beach with beautiful water Nice spot for a relaxing beach day
Went here twice during our two week stay. Quintessential tropical beach with white sand, palm trees and beautiful turquoise water. The service is great if you want to partake in it, or you can bring you own. Beach was very clean and water was terrific.
One of the best beaches in DR. The water is light blue with an awesome scenic view of the mountains wrapping around the coast. Local park workers will setup a table and chairs for you on the beach for an amazing fresh caught lunch. Ask for Sando (#20) for a very friendly English speaking host.
