The Liberty theater in Camas is a step back to an earlier time when you would go to a big palatial city theater to watch a movie. As the room darkened the screen would come alive with greats like John Wayne, Cary Grant, Henry Fonda and on and on. The theater occasionally runs old classic movies, which we try to catch. Admission prices are reasonable, and there is an array of snack foods to munch on. The Liberty usually gets movies very quickly after the have run in the first run multiplexes. What is hurting the Liberty is the lousy quality of movies today. It's been several months since I've gone there, usually to see one of their classics. Give us some decent flicks and I'll be back at the box office.
The theater has had some renovation done and now offers beer and wine in the upstairs area (only those 21 and over may sit in the upper area - be careful not to bump your head on the low ceiling!). It's a quaint theater and it's great to see a movie for so cheap!
We recently used Camas as our home base while exploring Portland and its surrounding areas. In the evenings when we got back to the little town we would stop into the historic Liberty Theater to see a movie. Each show only costs $4 per ticket (I think it's even cheaper on Tuesday nights). We saw films in the smaller Granada theater which still had a decently large screen for the room size. The first film we saw nearly sold out, so it's advised to get tickets earlier in the day and to arrive about 20 minutes before the show to secure a seat. The theater itself was very clean.I don't think there's too too much to do in Camas in the evening and the Liberty Theater was a nice respite from our sightseeing and traveling during our stay.
This little theater is amazing. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere quaint. No first run movies but new enough. This is like the old theaters of the fifties and sixties. They have a crying baby room and the big curtains that open to expose the screen when the movie is about to start. Really a fun place.
I stopped in one evening and saw a cool film The Skeleton Twins, which I had not heard of previously. It was great and I enjoyed going to the kind of place we had in the 60's and 70's.Very nice and just down from the Camas Hotel. And only four bucks to see a movie !!
Love that I can drop by and catch a movie that I missed in the first release. The beer list is nice and they even have a good pale ale from Mill City. Clean theaters and very comfortable!
we stayed at the old Camas Hotel in town and loved the feel of downtown Camas for the holidays! The Liberty Theater was the highlight! The architecture was so beautifully and lovingly restored Prices are only $4 per movie with new, classic and foreign films available. Popcorn is great too!, highly recommend !
The restored theatre brings you back to when you were a kid. Great movies for small bucks. A great place to bring the kids or a date. Be careful not sit behind tall people but a great small theater in Camas, WA
Great low prices, really good and inexpensive popcorn, with real butter! $17 for two people including tickets to a newer movie and large popcorn. Can't beat that.
The Liberty Theater is a renovated old vaudeville stage that now shows movies at great prices. It fits right into the quaint town square streets with the gas lights and adorable landscaping, boutique shops and restaurants. I would love to live here, we adored it so much!
