Just went by to see what the beach was like and couldnt find anything that looked like a public entrance. A wildlife refuge at the end of the road, but get good directions for parking if you want to visit.
Even though the whole parking permit thing $12 for the day, regardless of how long you stay, is a bit of a cash grab - this beach is one of the best and is truly beautiful! Watch for the tide times though, as we were lucky to have been there for 3.5 hours before the tide came in to the edge of the rocks, so we had to leave...... Some people were just arriving and would be disappointed. A truly gorgeous beach, nonetheless and not too crowded.
Nice beach for Maine! Watch out for the rocks....Chasing my kids on the beach stubbed my toe on a rock and broke it, ouch! Mosquitoes are pretty bad here as well, but if you stay moving not a big deal :)
Beautiful beach with FREE parking and very clean and quiet - what a great place to relax and/or take a walk.
Love love love it here. Pristine huge sand beach with lots to do for kids and adults. Great crab hunting for the kids. Grown ups can relax or paddle board and not worry about kids . Can't wait to go back. Not crowded at all.
It's worth the $12.00 fee to park at Goose Rocks to enjoy this wide, pristine beach. It's very family friendly, with safe areas for children to play, fly kites, test the waters. No dogs allowed on beach, no smoking, no boomboxes: just good clean fun.
Hardly anyone around in October, about 6 people on an enermous beach. Surrounded by holiday mansions, no parking charge in October, fine area.
The well packed sand makes the ideal surface for a walk, even if you cannot normally walk on a beach in soft sand. The beach was almost deserted on an ocvercast September afternoon but we would have walked further and stayed longer had there been public restrooms.
Goose Rocks Beach is a great beach for long walks - beautiful sand, nice views…..dog friendly but with restrictions during peak season.
I have been to many beaches in South Africa, Ireland, the UK, and mainland Europe over many years and Goose Rocks beach is one of the most beautiful I have seen and been to. The deep sandy beach overlooked by attractive beach houses, is very wide, over 4 miles in length and the sand spits and the islands offshore ensure that the vast bay is calm making it ideal for all manner of activities including kayaking, sailing, paddle boards, skiming boards etc. The sea is crystal clear and while wading or swimming you will see lots of crabs and schools of tiny fish. The huge open spaces on the beach meant we saw lots of baseball, football, frisbee and bat and ball activity too. Wish we had discovered this beach when our kids were younger as the sand is perfect for constructing sandcastles! The $12 parking fee is worth it and the General Store is an easy walk to get a lobster roll for lunch; the Tides is also an option including take away coffee!
