GO GO GO!!!!IT was amazing and it set the whole week of our trip off to an AWESOME AMAZING start!!! yes the bathrooms stunk, but ours do here too.. remember, you are in an old cave! and its hot so dont wear long sleeve or a heavy shirt! lol
Convenient all inclusive bar, the night we went there was maybe 25-40 people there, not alot. But coolest setting. Good night out.
We booked this trip through Thomas Cook @ 25 Pasos each. This included transport and an all inclusive bar.The bus was half hour late picking us up. The journey there was eventful.. I actually thought I was going to die! The driver was going so fast, the coach even made air at one point!! During the journey we were told that our bus had broken down, so we would have to wait until all the other hotels had been dropped off before we would get picked up. Not impressed. The cave itself is very impressive, however the service at the bar was not! We didnt take any money because we had already paid for the drinks, however unless you had tipping money, you did not get served. We waited half an hour before somebody kindly gave us a paso just so we could get a drink!!We were also told there would be people there to teach you cuban dancing.. there wasn't. There was a cuban band though who were very good. When the buses came to pick us up, the bus going to Sol Cayo Coco (next to the Melia where we were staying) was half empty. When we first asked if we could go on this bus we were told we would have to wait until it had dropped them off and came back. After a bit of a discussion we were eventually allowed on this bus.The highlight of the trip was the Cuban man on the way home telling everybody to be quiet so he could sing his Cuban songs, which he did! He was very entertaining. If everything had gone to plan, IE buses and being served quickly I think this trip would have been very good, however our experience was pretty crap!
My best friend and I had so much fun here one night! lots of drinks and dancing.. bring some tipping money!
Definiltey do this trip while you're in Cayo Coco - it's only 25cuc per person which includes a return bus and entry to the club with a free bar all night. Bus picked us up from Tryp hotel around 11pm and returned us around 2.30am - the journey was about 15mins. There was supposed to be a Cuban band on but I think we missed them - that would have been great to see though. The cave itself is awesome - really big and you can wander the little routes freely as it's all dimly lit. Plenty of drink choices at the all inclusive bar - as always, take a couple of pesos for tipping and quick service. The bar staff are great here by the way - as friendly as all the other Cubans we met.The music they play is your usual chart stuff - perfect to have a drunken dance to! It's all tourists as you'd expect, but there was a great atmosphere - we'd definitely go again.Oh, and I'd read that the mosquitos were bad - our group didn't suffer but take some spray just in case!
La Cueva is a nightclub (Tuesday nights) in a natural cave and although very fascinating to look at, probably not the best choice for us, as I visited while 4 months pregnant and my fiance is not a heavy drinker. I managed to give the bartender pause when I asked him for a virgin Mojito – he actually stopped his flow and blinked at me. The music was great and there was a live band and an Afro-Cuban performance, but we could hardly see anything from where we were sitting. Needless to say, being the only sober people in the disco and on the bus ride back to the hotel made our heads hurt. I would definitely recommend this for young singles and couples who like to party, dance and get really, really drunk.
It's a great place to party. There is a show to begin with which is good and then the party start. It is bigger than I expected. The drinks are all inclusive in your ticket so order a few at a time so you don't have to keep going back to the bar, the left side of the bar is for beer and the rest of the drinks need to be order on the right so make sure you are in the right queue. Oh and the bus journey there is a bit like a roller coaster. Enjoy!
Been there twice now with several freinds within a month. 25 CUC good value. Music was much better 1st time. Second time was not as full. Did rain into disco being a cave is understandable, however can we not do something about the flooding on half the dance floor ie. proper drain or pump? Now the real nasty problem and this is coming from a man, Please do something about the washrooms. No toilet paper in either bath room, and the smell of urine all over the place was the worst I have ever seen even being overseas on numerous UN deployements. Maybe that lady that sits all night in front of the bathrooms looking for Peso tips could get off her butt once in awhile and grab a bucket & mop and some new toilet paper. This was a real let down on both trips for everyone in our party in because of this, will likely not return.
Great music, great people, great bar tenders, incredible place all around. Warning: If you're tall, wear a helmet!
Went to the cave party in June 2014.Had fun, but they did not have Tonic Water which is the main ingredient in my drink, besides rum, of course. Had a great time, with new friends. The fire show was ok. And the music was great. Bus ride there is ver bumpy (like a roller-coster lol)A must see at least once, if you like the night life underground.
