I took my kids here with friends when we were visiting Springfield. I was delighted to see such a variety of interesting exhibits. I enjoyed looking at and being a part of them. There were actually ones that you could actually touch and feel. This is awesome, especially for kids who are hands on learners. I highly recommend the Springfield Science Museum to families and educators.
Kind of small but done with a lot of attention to detail and a very large amount of effort. If you can't get to the Smithsonian, get to this one.
Not a very large or up to date space, but adequate to spend a few hours in. We traveled from central Mass with our 2 year old and visited the variety of museums. Our favorite was actually the history museum. The science museum didn't seem to keep our toddler interested for very long and the history museum had a nice display of Indian motorcycles and a bit of Springfield history. We would certainly not make the hour trip again for a visit, but it might be a ncie afternoon for families a bit closer in location.
The science museum was not large. After walking through, thought there was more, wondering when the experience starts. This was the first of the museums we went into. Just glad it got much better after this one
Its a science museum. A little bit of everything in a small sized building. Its not NYC or Boston, but its fun nonetheless. Definitely worth a membership if you are a local resident
This is a smaller sized science museum. Our children liked that there were a few live animals and the huge dinosaur model.
We enjoyed all the Museums... Very educational and worth seeing... The kids enjoyed it and we had a wonderful time... We would recommend families to see and experience each one....
Had a great time visiting this museum recently with our grandchild.Highlight was the butterfly exhibit in place until fall. Observation room in a natural setting with live butterflies many of which landed on our granchild giving her a thrill. Also, a walk through maze which explains the insects stages of growth ending with a thrill ride for the children. Plenty of other interesting animal and science rooms also. Makes for a great afternoon tour.
Today was my first time visiting the museum. I took both my children and their friends so 4 kids and 1 adult. Even with my discounted library pass, I paid $64. The Rain Forest Exhibit was an additional $5/person and though it was a nice exhibit, there was nothing extra to justify the additional cost. For the size of the museum, it was too pricey. The saving grace was that we also were able to use our passes to make a quick visit to the art museum and to visit the outdoor Seuss sculpture garden and giant twig/stick structure.
We went this past weekend with our young children and really enjoyed the museum. The main reason we came is for the rainforest exhibit and we were quite disapointed with that. There is a $5 extra charge to see it and trust me it was not worth it. The rest of the museum was very well done though and the kids loved it.
