If you are lucky with the weather, it is not the high season and you get there early in the day you are bound to remenber the experience forever. You feel free and in harmony with nature. Don't be scared of the cold water after a few splashes you will feel amazing! Still my dream come true on this earth...or at least Europe!
Rodas beach on Islas Cies has the reputation of being as being the best beach in the world (according to a column in the Guardian). My advice would be to avoid it, and make your way to the much smaller, much more beautiful cove called Figueiras Beach.Take a right turn after leaving the boat jetty, and walk for approx 10 minutes. to reach the Figueiras beach. The only downside here is that there are some nudists on the beach - but the beach is large enough to cater for the small number of visitors that it receives. The island is a good option for any one looking for a day trip.Camping is available on the island, but only in the official campsite, and the pitches are TINY !Bring you own picnic, as the quality of the restaurant leaves a bit to be desired - good for coffee and drinks though! One last tip - make sure that you check the weather forecast before booking your tickets, Islas Cies is best seen in the sunshine.Enjoy your trip !
It has everything to be a tropical beach besides the water temperature.... :)Me and some friends went there for a full day on the beach and i must say, was a wonderful day. The beach is very large, white sand, calm waters to swim along side the fish's, literally....After lunch we went visit the rest of the island, and discover that isn't only the beach that's awesome.Note: Beware the seagull's, they steal your food right from your hands....
Spent the day here with my boyfriend - really unexpectedly stunning!! We took the ferry from Vigo, which was about a 20 minute ride. We left at 8am and returned at 5pm. They have a lot of trails for hiking and a camp site, as well as a few restaurants, which is nice! We did the hike up to one of the light houses; it was the one at the highest point. Amazing views through out the hike up and even more stunning views once at the top. It's hard to express the beauty in a review or even pictures; it's something else in person. We had lunch at the bocadillo bar, which is kind of hidden if you miss the little sign. Yummy sandwich and chips for under 10 euros. We spent the rest of the day from about 11 am - 4:30 pm at the main beach. BEAUTIFUL BEACH! This is a conservation island, so everything is really pristine and looks untouched and unspoilt. You can't leave garbage or take any nature home with you (shells, rocks etc) which is really nice. The sun was really hot that day, and the water, sadly, was FRIGID. This is located in the North Atlantic of course, but it looks like warm caribbean water lol so you can't spend much time in the water without freezing haha but it was a nice, sharp, break from the hot sun. We really enjoyed our day on the island and would probably go back if we go back to Vigo :)
This beach has the clearest water I have ever seen! Lovely sandy beach, a bit cold water, but very refreshing and clear with plenty of fish to see if snorkeling. It's worth even as a day trip from Vigo!
just amazing beaches, great views, surrounded by nature, totally recommend it , however the water can be cold even in summer.
If you do anything while visiting Vigo it has to be leave Vigo on a ferry to Cies. Pack your swimming costume and sun tan lotion and set sail to the islands for a fabulous day of sunbathing, swimming and chilling in beautiful beaches. If you can, camp there. I wish we had instead of wasting our money at the Gran Nagari.
I love the sand, the colour of the water, the views. The water temperature is always very cold in this region.
Coulor of blue and green, with lots of points to visit with beautiful unexplored nature. It is really worth a visit for a 3 day trip
We went with the ferry of Mar de Ons to this beautiful island. But we were not the only ones... Spanish holidays (25th of July) began so it was crowded. The island and de white sandy beaches are great! Water a bit cold, but it is lovely for a swim! To eat, we recommend to go to the little 'restaurant' on the hill for traditional food.
