We stayed one night, the last weekend of September. The changing of the leaves was simply beautiful, taking the ride from Denver. The cabin and accomodations were excellent and we cannot wait to visit again!
Our family visits Steamboat Lake regularly to take advantage of the glorious environment, fishing and boating. The cabins are functional and a nice option in the late spring, when the weather is often too inclement for comfortable tent camping. We were disappointed in a few items that could easily be addressed: blinds and curtain rods were broken and poorly hung. The heater in one cabin was not easily controlled and offered only a very high setting. And the toilet paper in one of the bathrooms was not adequately supplied.
This was the 4th year our large group staycationed at the Steamboat Lake SP cabins. We love the accommodations and the beautiful mountain setting. The cabins are a luxury for a few of our hard core campers but rustic for others. For the most part the cabins were clean and comfortable. A few improvements I'd love to see next year are more attention to detailed cabin cleaning (a thorough sweeping of the floors), mattress replacement ( much of the plastic is cracked) and additional staff maintenance visits to the restroom (our group supplied several rolls of TP and PT). These items are minor and just would enhance our experience during our stay. Thanks for these wonderful amenities you offer to the public. We will surely return to continue building lasting memories for our families and friends.
My wife and I (along with our dogs) stayed in a cabin during the first week in October 2013. The cabin was perfect as we had tent camped at the park in October 2012 but thankfully my wife talked me into a cabin this year, becuase we got a bunch of snow. The cabin was rustic, but had bunked double beds, a mini refrigerator and a built-in heater. It had everything you'd need to go a little beyond tent camping for those late fall or early spring trips when weather can be an issue! We got 8-9 inches of snow over our first night so we were so happy we had the protection and warmth of a cabin this year. We had the entire state park to ourselves, which we're sure was partially due to the adverse weather conditions during our stay, but not having anyone else in the entire state park was perfectly fine with us. The fall colors were at peak color during our stay and then with the combination of wet, snow sticking to all the pine trees, it was amazing! We would certainly recommend the cabins for anyone going up to Steamboat Lake State Park when there's a higher chance of adverse weather! It as a life-saver! On a side note, the bath house for the camper cabins might have been the nicest bathroom at a state park or national park campground that I've ever seen!
Incredibly gorgeous. Family friendly biking around the lake on the path, gorgeous flowers, deer, etc. and great fishing for the fishermen!
We (2 people) stayed at cabin #3 and had nice view of Sand Mountain. Cabin was clean and bunks comfortable. We brought own bed linen, pillows and sleeping bags as blankets. Good cross breeze through the windows plus high ceilings with quiet ceiling fan kept the cabin cool. Coffee maker was missing and folks at the marina gave us a clean replacement. We rented a pontoon boat for a couple of hours and enjoyed lunch out in the middle of the lake with 360 views of mountains. Hike up to Hahn's peak well worth it. Adult children tent camped nearby and joined us at our cabin campground for dinners. Good option for larger groups.
Had a wonderful time in the cabins and boating on the lake, plus hiking to Hahn's Peak. Great family vacation!
We saw the cabins last year and instantly decided it was a "must do" for 2013. Stayed in Cabin 4, awesome, even though the promised coffee maker was missing. Could not have been happier, and plan to stay in a larger cabin next year. We arrived early, could not access the cabin, but the owner, Karl, called me personally to assure me there was no problem, they just needed to get the cabin ready. I loved that personal touch. The views, the proximity to the lake and the beach and hiking trails, and we loved the dedicated bath house and showers. Trips to Hahn's Peak Village and Steamboat Springs are close and easy, wonderful food in both places. The ease and comfort of the cabins make this a "must do" every year. May even plan a winter trip there early next year. My advice if you want to go is to book the cabins early, they fill up fast!!
This is a great place to stay with great ammenities offered, awesome service and cabin accomodations that are clean, updated and comfortable. Steamboat Lake area has so much to offer and the Marina with surrounding campground services make it even more appealing to enjoy.
I just got home today from 4 lovely days at Steamboat Lake. We held our family reunion there. Everyone had a wonderful time and was sad to have to leave.
