Old theater venue. Refurbished. Wine and beer allowed and served. Good entertainment via excellent scheduling of performers and events.
I have had the occasion lately to attend a few concerts at the State Theater. The seats are good ,you can get a beer or a glass of wine and a pretty good chocolate if you have a sweet tooth. They run old movies and have a variety of musical guests. Every time I have been there it has been Great!
A small venue in Culpeper that has been redone and is beautiful, Concerts, plays, movies ect. are all offered.
My daughter's dance company, Orange School of Performing Arts, did the Nutcracker here at Christmas. What a fantastic venue! The theatre has no bad seats, feels large and intimate at the same time. I think they were nervous at first when selling tickets because they did not immediately open up the balcony seats for purchase, but both performances were sold out. The restorations has been performed beautifully and it is nice to see a place of this caliber in Culpeper!
This newly renovated theater is a great addition to the arts scene in Culpeper. It features live performances and movies (we've enjoyed both already), including classic movies shown in partnership with the Library of Congress Audio and Visual Center, also located in Culpeper. It's decor is very attractive, sound system is first rate, seating is comfortable. A plus is that the theater is fairly narrow, so that every seat in the house is a good seat, including those to the far left and far right.
This charming theater is also a great cinema, very large, comfy and super nice staff. I've been there for concerts and films and it is GREAT!
The acoustics are wonderful, and all of the seating has great sightlines. The staff is friendly and it is a treat to be able to bring adult beverages into the theatre from the snack bar. The restrooms are amazingly spacious and CLEAN.
beautifully redone.. the facility is excellent.... add this to your choices of visits to Culpeper.. if you are taking in a movie, a concert or a show
We attended a silent film event with music provided by the Snark Ensemble, a 5 piece instrumental group that accompanies silent movies. This was our first visit to the State Theatre. The entrance and lobby are spacious and welcoming, with good lighting. The Auditorium is roomy and the seating very comfortable. Finding the lavatories is a bit confusing, but staff were ready to give us direction. We would be happy to visit the State more frequently, but we were there for just the one event, leaving town the next day.
What a great Theatre, not a bad seat in the house. Dave Mason rocked the crowd. Great performance! The Theatre is such a great addition to Culpeper.
