new restaurants have flocked the square...more modern setup, with more services, shops and entertainment spots. guarded with security personnel.
very noisy not my cup of tea any more getting too old sorry to say but can see an interest for younger revellers
Matina Town Square, or popularly known as MTS, offers a lot of cool events ranging from seasonal events to company-hosted events. I like how you have a great food selection in this compound (from sweets & coffee to fine dining). I also like the fact that they have a big coffeeshop in the middle. The only knack is the traffic when you enter MTS since there are a lot of taxis and jeepneys.Overall, a good place to go especially at night.
As a tourist, I did not find anything exciting about the Matina Square. I went at night on a weekday. There were lots of live bands playing. It was cool to see some kids break dancing off on their own. Most people were just seated which made it seem like an average patio location.
MTS is the best place in Davao for fun, relaxing, good food, outdoor, a few drinks, life bands and much more - NOT ONLY for young people. Also for those people who want to feel young. When in Davao - MTS is a must!
I like going here in the afternoons, sitting (and/or reading) in one of the benches in the back. Lots of food choices too!
Matina Town Square aka MTS, is a laid back place with a bunch of BBQ stalls around an open stage area where you can relax and listen to live music with a beer in one hand an a BBQ in the other. The crowd is mostly composed of teenagers and young adults who just want to bask in the open air and eat decently priced food while listening to live music. Besides the BBQ stalls, there are nearby fastfood joints like Jollibee and McDonald's. There are also some decent cafes, sweetshops, restaurants, arts and crafts stores, and travel shops around. On particular days they have mini bazaars where you can find bargain items and clothing. The venue itself is well maintained. The toilets are properly working, the doors and roads are clean and functional. Security is also decent.Try this place out during the weekend for more interesting sights or weekdays for a more relaxed vibe.
Absolutely the place to go to for great food, atmosphere and brilliant live music! Food is very cheap and there's a variety of places to choose from. Live music is just an add on bonus to being in the place. Definitely worth a visit when you are in Davao.
I like Matina Town Square, known to locals merely as "MTS" because it shows the soul of Davao. It is a complex of bars and restaurants, one of which has a live bands. Beer and Fingerfood "Pulutan" are the standard fare in this busy, fun place. This is also the place where smokers are assigned a smoking area, far away from the generally non-smoking Davawenos.
Great place to be and be seen at night.Lots of food selections and nightly entertainment. If you're in Davao try to drop by this place.
