My friends and I visit Casa de Campo every year for 4 years. We play golf but not had a chance to see Dye Fore. One day we just got on a cart and they let us see the golf course and by Gholly it was breath taking....
Chavon, stunning as buzzards skim the buggie, tremendous views and I have parred the first both times I have played it !! (look out next year !!!) Marina, just look at some of the properties that sit next to the course - you really are somewhere special. The course is brilliant and I challenge you to play well with all the views to distract you !!!
I played here since someone told me the views were incredible. I have to tell you that I may like this course equally to Teeth. It's in great shape and quite a test, but fair. Play this course.
Really a good course, tough and beautiful views from the mountain. See the Chavon River beneath you and the ocean in the distance ... this is a must play right behind the Teeth course!
1st time in Dominican Republic and we stayed exclusively at the Casa De Campo resort to play golf, eat and drink! The Dye Fore was terrific and fit my eye a little better than the more highly rated Teeth of the Dog. The fairways needed a little work but the overall condition was good. The layout and scenery was beautiful. It's set along a deep river gorge used to film the movie Apocalypse Now with additional views of the oven and marina in the distance. If you want a great caddie ask for Andy! Great time.
Like the Teeth of the Dog course, it is a challenging Dye layout that is in prestine condition. As challenging as it is, it too is a course that players of all levels should experience.
6 of us vacationed in a private villa at Casa de Campo to play golf. 6 rounds in 6 days. We had heard a lot about how great the golf was there and we were not disappointed. We played everything, including the private La Romana Country Club, except for the Links. Although Teeth of the Dog gets all of the acclaim, we liked Dye Fore much better - played it 3 times! I disagree that the newest 9 holes - the Lakes - isn't worth playing. While it doesn't have the breathtaking views of the Chavon River or the Marina that the other 2 nines have, it's beautifully landscaped and actually rather forgiving (if you need that which I certainly do!). The best part of Dye Fore is that the nines are all so different from each other that playing multiple times gives you the ability to combine nines in different ways and have a different experience each time. We had 2 great caddies - Johnny and Domingo - and we highly recommend both of them. I agree that the clubhouse could have better food, but there is no better place to enjoy a cold beer at the end of the day as the bar overlooks the spectacular 18th hole. If you finish in time to have lunch or dinner, walk the cobblestone streets of Altos De Chevon right outside of the pro shop and look for Onno's Tapas Bar. Get the shrimp diablo tacos - delicious!
Greens were a bit faster at Dye Fore than at Teeth, so that's saying something! Take a caddie for the first time or you'll be lost on a bunch of holes.
3 lots of very different 9 holes. Superb condition. Pity about the poisons they are using on the course though as this is a non selective poison that hurts everything including humans in the long run. If we had caddies (employment?) we would walk the course. Well worth playing.
I wasn't expecting much but, this course was one of the toughest I've played... with a 3 club wind, it was dramatic and tough to score well. You will be glad for the caddy
