Walking around the Phil Eagle Center feels like you're walking in a rainforest. The air was cool and not humid at all. Our guide Joel was a highschool volunteer and was very surprisingly very knowledgeable and was able to answer our questions. There are other birds and animals in the center but of course the eagles were the rock stars. I just hope that they have bigger cages for the birds.
A great venue to learn about our endangered Philippine eagle, a must visit for first time Davao City visitors.
I was amazed by how big the actual monkey eating eagle is. The place is very refreshing and quiet. They have other animals too like deer, monkeys etc. I could've enjoyed the place more if the care takers didn't show special treatment to the foreigners. He took them in a tour around the place and showed some eagle tricks. I mean, all of us paid the entrance fees. :-/
The eagles are amazing to see up close and in person. There aren't a lot of them but you can see them close adn outside a cage. The park is nice to walk through and has other things to see. Overall, worth the trip to see an eagle up close and personal. I'd allow a couple of hours there to walk and view things. It's not that large a place. We negotiated a taxi to take us from SM Lanang mall area and wait for us, P1500 plus lunch.
very interesting birds and development of aviaries and people interaction worth the trip out of town to see
Great job in keeping this Center going and in such a good shape. Congratulations to all. If in Davao, this is one place to visit; it is just a few minutes away from Davao. Plan to spend a couple of hours. Make sure you look for one of the care-takers, and ask for a close up picture with one of the eagles; mine is now in my FB profile..
The eagles and seahawks were interesting. However, some areas were closed off according to our guide. They are trying artificial insemination to increase the species with the monkey eating eagles but the results are still not in. Interesting, but a little rundown ....
The eagle park is defiantly worth a visit if you are in the area. The eagles are fascinating. I recommend going with a local friend if you have one as they can make the experience more enjoyable.
we went here with the whole family, it was an nice and interesting visit. the cages can bi bigger for some birds, but i think that will be the first thing they do when the have some more money
The 100-peso entrance fee is too much for a small place. There are less than 20 bird species including the mighty Philippine eagle, a crocodile, and few mammals. The eagle was caged, a surrounding that do not actually mimic its natural habitat, the other one is tied and was put on display near the entrance for guest to take photos with. Some disturb it for the innocent bird to flip its wings. Since no one was there to educate the guests' malpractice, the bird is always stressed whenever the park opens.
