The 2 CUC ( 1 CUC = 1 USD) entry fee is worth it. There are guides willing to give you a short tour ( 15 min) and explain the history and design of this old theatre. The tour is very worthwhile ( tipping is optional) The theatre is very orange and is built on a classic Italian design. Some interesting history too. You are free to wander through and explore at your own pace also .
Theatre Tomas Terry situated on the central square of the Cienfuegos. Classical theatre building, large, with authentical decor, mosaics and ceiling frescoes, was opened 1895 and welcomed such artists as Enrico Caruso and Anna Pavlova. Unfortunately there was the cost of 5 CUC for using camera inside and I did not do it, now I regret this, because I could not find any pictures, books or postcards about this great place.
The exterior has been very well renovated. The inside could use some work, but you can almost hear the ghosts of the famous people who appeared on stage.
This beautiful old theatre is situated along the main square in the centre of Cienfuegos. It is definitely worth a visit to taste the atmosphere. The original furnishings are all still there as well as a wonderfully painted ceiling. Along the outer gallery you will find pictures of famous people who performed here in the past.
Would have loved to have seen a performance on this huge stage. All the seats have great views. Interesting architecture.
The bar here has a shady courtyard overlooking the square, and a well stocked gift shop attached. Nice for a mid afternoon thirst quencher.
Very interesting old theatre well worth a visit for 2Cuc's. it would have been nice to see a show there
I know that the city of Cienfuegos, is amazing itself, but do find time to see this theatre. Inside it has beautiful paintings and you can pay a small amount of Money,in order to take photos.
It's worth the 2 CUC to peek inside the theatre. The ceiling is beautiful, and the seating is so different compared to Europe. The service in the cafe was really bad,
Built in 1889, the TTT is a beautiful old theatre. My one regret that I could not see a performance of the ballet or Shakespeare…. The fresco ceilings are superb and the architecture stunning. TT would have loved it.
