If you have gone to the old movie theater that was where Legacy Place now sits you will see the huge difference in what it used to be. I love how the theaters are newer and have Lux Level.
Came here for the first time today to see the Hobbit. Had the entire upper level to ourselves, food/drinks delicious and $5 food vouchers. For a movie theater they made amazing moijito's.
With comfortable stadium seating, large seats, and plenty of legroom, this is not your grandfather's movie theater. And it is so clean -- definitely better than most theaters, and an improvement over the original (not bad) theater that this replaced a few years ago. Similar in style and quality to the one at Patriot Place.
Four of us went to the De Lux cinema in Dedham to catch a movie. We had planned to meet up at Yard House beforehand for dinner but the wait there was an hour. So we checked out the Studio 3 Restaurant and Bar inside the De Lux Cinema facility. We thought we were the luckiest people in the world because there were tons of available tables. The place looks very attractive -- bright, white leatherette booths and chairs, fun bar atmosphere. But the service and food were very poor. The waitress asked us a couple of time what time our movie started and told us we had plenty of time (about 90 minutes). Our drinks came reasonably quickly but 30-40 after placing our dinner orders we has to ask her because we still had no food. The waitress told us it's because the top priority is the people sitting in the Lux seating upstairs and the restaurant is a second class citizen. She said the food had to be brought down from upstairs. She asked if we would to take it to go. (Huh? The restaurant is importing food from the movie theater? And where would we eat it if we took it to go -- sitting on a bench in the movie lobby? At our seats in the theater?) If we weren't so close now to movie start time we would have taken the waitress's suggestion to cancel our dinner orders.Eventually two of our four burger meals arrived. The waitress dropped them off and left. We had no utensils. I eventually got some from the bar. Then the other two meals arrived. My burger, ordered medium, was well done and barely warm. My side salad consisted of lettuce, a ton of chopped raw onions (just what you want before sitting next to your friends at the movies), and a ton of chopped carrots. The onion rings had something sugary in the batter. One of us who is allergic to dairy had cheese on her burger. The waitress came across as if it were my friend's fault for not saying "no cheese please." The menu had said "add cheese if you wish." Overall a really poor dining experience and now I understand why on a hectic Friday night the place was nearly empty. Lesson learned.
Coming from Scotland where we don't have too many cinemas like this, I was pleasantly surprised.Seat service, comfortable seats and a nice, clean environment to watch your movie in. hate that feeling of sitting in a cramped, dirty theater where you worry about who's been on the seat before you!Had drinks and food brought to our seats/mini table - I ordered the philly cheese steak (I was in America after all and wanted to do things the right way) and we got some fries to share and cocktails/beer.Really enjoyed the movie and was no hassle to pay after ew were leaving. I really like the ordering through iPads touch too - as always the Americans are ahead of the game!
This place could use a few more specials. The food is outrageous! It is clean and pleasant enough unless you are at a long movie then the seats can be uncomfortable.
My biggest pet peeve about theaters (because everyone in my family is a shrimp) are the seats. Without fail, a tall person ALWAYS sits in front of me and I'm dodging my head left and right just to see the screen. Not my ideal viewing pleasure. That being said, I will never have that problem here. These theaters actually are true stadium seating and although the Framingham theater is literally 5 minutes from my house I will definitely drive the extra miles to go to Dedham again. Also the popcorn seemed fresh and delicious.
This place oozes luxury. For relatively standard movie prices (in major cities) these days, De Lux impresses with big squishy seats, night club lighting, and gourmet treats. Who doesn't want to grab a martini and Ben & Jerry's before a flick? Okay, maybe not at the same time.
We love this theater, mostly because of the stadium seating and large cushy seats. Also there are a lot of food choices. We live near the Framingham cinema but will choose to go here any time we can. Additionally, this is part of an outdoor "mall" where there is plenty to do after the movies - we typically get a pizza (restaurant downstairs) and/or hit the candy store and toy store. If I am with kids for a day, I can easily keep kids amused for a whole afternoon by just starting at the movies and walking our way around the shopping complex.
This is a well maintained movie theater with multiple screens. Being in the middle of Legacy Place mall is an added advantage.
