We have seen numerous plays there and they are all good. Great seating. Loved White Christmas. wonderful singing and dancing. Very professional. Just delightful . A must see...made me cry happy tears. I love seeing the talented performers afterwards outside to tell them how wonderful it was.
"The miracle worker"The ambiance is amazing! The place is fantastic! The seats are comfortable and everything about this theater is high class! The actors and production of the play were great! They draw you into the story and you are transported to another place and time. The balcony is great and you can see really well from there. They even have "box seats". This is really a hidden gem. Also it's very affordable! $22 for the VIP seats (most expensive not counting the box seats) and I also wanted to mention that the people there (ushers, box office, etc.) were really friendly. My husband and I are so happy we decided to come to this theater and play. They have a lot of volunteers and sponsors to make it a success and that is exactly what it is!! We will definitely be back!
If you have ever wished you could have went to one of those classic theatres they always show in the movies this is it!! The Athens theatre is a true treasure . On our particular visit we took in the play "The Miracle worker" and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you to all who helped rebuild the theatre and volunteer to help keep it going.
This theater has been through several incarnations over the years, and was closed for a long time while funds were raised for the restoration. It was restored to its former glory and has once again become a wonderful venue for shows and movies.
My husband I visited to see Las Misre but I have see other plays. I really like this theatre because of quaint “old time” feel. The shows I’ve seen there took me back in time. Oh what fun!
My wife and I attended the play Songs for a New World on our first visit to the Athens in May. We drove over from Apopka to celebrate her birthday with dinner at Cress and the play afterwards. The play was a good local community presentation that was definitely worth more than its very reasonable ticket price. But the real star for us on this night was the beautiful historic theatre that has been exquisitely restored to its original magnificence. We were reminded of the old theatre in our childhood hometown in south Georgia. Unfortunately, no one stepped in to save it from decline and eventual demolishing. Thank goodness that some forward thinking people in Deland recognized the hidden beauty in the Athens Theatre and procured the backing to restore this lovely building to its present gracefully elegant state.
Hello Kathy,I am glad to hear that you enjoyed our production of Legally Blonde, but heart broken to hear about your experience with the seating mix up. My House Manager did inform me that this happened, although I was unaware of any discomfort caused to you by how the situation was handled. Until this occurrence, I was not aware that the rows had a discrepancy. This has now been fixed. I had hoped that the free concessions immediately offered to you would allow us one more chance to entertain you. If there is any further assistance I can be to you, please feel free to contact me at Alexa@AthensDeLand.com Thank you for making us aware so that we could correct this issue. We appreciate your patronage and understanding.
