I visited in August with my family as part of our summer holiday. The views are wonderful and it's unlike any train I've ever been on. The staff are very friendly and it's good value for money, especially when travelling with a family. I will definitely be recommending and will hopefully return again soon.
It is extremely popular and the views are great! The grain station is close to city centre. Some B & B's will pick you up at station; taxis are not expensive.
Justly praised as a journey of special scenic interest. Advice: sit one side of the carriage on outward journey, and the other side coming back. And now tyhe track is relaid it is a smooth and comfortable ride.
First time ever to Derry by train. Leisure trip, most enjoyable, great views of the coast. Loved the free bus shuttle from the station to Foyle street depot and the return was equally good. there is a locker service at bus station for luggage for a nominal fee.
Travelled from Ballymena to Londonderry & returned. Beautiful secenary Well worth the trip. Need to leave early in the morning & head home mid afternoon
Spent a lovely day in Derry having travelled by train. Walked back to the station over the peace bridge looking forward to a cuppa while waiting for the train. What a disappointment! 4:30 & all locked up - only a vending machine & very few seats. Come on you can do better for a station at the end of one of the most stunning railway journeys in the world.
A pleasant journey from Coleraine. Trains of good quality. No buffet car. but wonderful views. Worth seeing but not worth making a special journey just to see. best combined with another adventure
The ever changing scenery is not only beautiful but interesting. Our conductor gave us a running commentary which was so unexpected! He did so with grace and humour which was one of the highlights of the trip. The train is quiet and comfortable and the complimentary bus at the end takes you right into the centre of Derry. Perfect day out, not to be missed.
If it's good enough for Michael Palin, then it's good enough for me! Unfortunately the weather interfered with the views on the way to Derry but, on the way back, wow, what a load of outstanding scenery! Especially as the rain had made loads of waterfalls, too. Train is warm and punctual, so well worth the trip!
train journey very good stunning views comfortable trip good connections for onward journey helpful staff
