This out-of-the-way place was worth the trip to get a great beer in a relaxed atmosphere. The brews were awesome and the selection has grown. I had 6 brew samples for a minor $4, they were all delicious! The only drawback is the staff behind the bar don't consistently seem too concerned with customer service. I had my brew samples unceremoniously set on our table with no way to identify which was which. The server seemed impatient when I asked for ID of the brews. I saw another table get their samples on a nice paddle and their waiter explained each brew to them. Other than that, this was a great experience! A fun place to try new beers in a fun, clean atmosphere.
Definitely visit Bent Paddle during your visit to Duluth! My husband and I wandered in here after a recommendation from a friend and we were definitely not disappointed. It's such a fun layout, very industrial with high ceilings and fun decor. We each ordered a beer flight to try a bunch of their offerings and ended up staying for over an hour. There were a couple different wedding parties that ventured in for a drink and everyone from age 10-80 in the hour we were there. I will definitely be back.
We were excited to check out the taproom on a recent Friday evening. Everything was good - the clean space, spots available at the bar, and, of course, the IPA. The downfall was the server who couldn't have been less welcoming, not just to us but to anyone at the bar. Not sure what his problem was and we didn't hang around long enough to find out.
You can't say enough about this place. It is a super modern brewery where you get the best beer ever. I have been there twice and the owners are always around giving the tours and hooking you up with their beer samples. They were really fun to talk with as they know everything about brewing and beer. They don't sell food directly there but they have food trucks come in the evenings weekly which is cool. If you like beer, and are in duluth, you have to stop!
The brewer was very nice and knew exactly what he was talking about. The beer is amazing!!! Try the Blonde Ale. Yummy. I highly recommend this place!!
We stopped at a local bar and had a glass of the bent paddle black ale. In conversation with the patrons we learned about this brewery. What a rising Star. Great beer, great people, a must stop if you like well brewed micro brew.
I haven't been to the brewery it's self but I carry bent paddle in my bar both on tap and in a can. My favorite duluth craft. If your visiting duluth bent paddle is a must try
Bent Paddle Brewing, Duluth, MN, has done is right. Opened in May 2013, I've been to the brewery numerous times for tours and visit the taproom. Great atmosphere, the owners are awesome and the beer is outstanding. The Bent Hop IPA is outstanding and my favorite. I was never a hoppy guy but this beer has changed by feelings. You just can't go back to the mass produced crap anymore. The Backcountry Blonde is a seasonal brew but maybe canned in 2014, its a really good one. The Black Ale is smooth for a dark beer and not as hoppy as Bent Hop. The new Pils is a nice lager with some hop. Brewery is located in sketchy Lincoln Park of Duluth but the area is improving with the brewery, Frost River Trading, and others. Check out the brewery on Thursday evenings for Food Truck Thursday. Bring in food to the tap room from the trucks and enjoy the beer. *Currently, the beer is available in the Duluth area in cans and at many local bars and restaurants (outside of growlers from the taproom). The (12oz) can designs are cool and fresh. The BP team continues to do it right and is such a great addition to the MN craft beer industry and is the flagship for the breweries/brewpubs in Duluth. Who wouldn't drink quality beer made from the great water of Lake Superior? Lake Superior water or Minneapolis made beer from the Old Miss? I know my decision.
We took a tour of the brewery on a Saturday. Great guide, positive message on starting your own business. I'm not much of a beer drinker myself, but it was too fun not to refill the taste testing glass!
If you're a beer lover, you owe it to yourself to stop here. They are a new small craft beer operation (one year). They have a basic tap room (no food available but there are food trucks outside some days in the summer). They do allow outside deliveries or you can bring your own if desired. What sets them apart is the friendliness of the staff and, of course, the beer! Check them out!!!
