Fantastic ambiance and excellent beer selection. If you enjoy craft beer, this is the place to be in Des Moines.
This is a fun atmosphere with an amazingly large assortment of beers on draught. Definitely worth a visit
We like going to Food TV places while traveling so stopped here with the family for lunch. Sure I know it is more of a beer place but lots of "beer joints" have great food, are clean, and well maintained. El Bait does not do any of these unfortunately. Food was just OK. There were flies all over the place and the place is generally dirty. Silverware had old food on it (yuk), and every single booth has huge holes in the cushion. Come on really? All of them at the same time? They were big enough to swallow a small child. Maybe this place is OK for a beer but I wouldn't go back for a meal.
Met up with friends there and there were lots of choices for beverages including ciders and mixed drinks. Service was not great, but it was a Friday night and there was an Iowa Cubs game so maybe it was busier than usual?
Insane amount of good beers to try here. I love the place. There was a live band when we visited and they were pretty good, too. Didn't try the food. I only come here to get a taste of some great brews that I can't find at home in Waterloo. The decor is fun and our server was fantastic, bringing me lots of small beer samples to help me make up my mind.
I counted 116 taps on the wall. I have no idea how many more beers were available in bottles. This is the place to come to drink local and regional beer, especially when everyone in the party wants something different. We also ordered food. I had the wings with a sweet bbq sauce. They were good but nothing special. My wife was happy with her cheeseburger, just the right size. Others at the table ordered nachos and tacos and declared themselves satisfied. The A/C was on high and we needed every BTU in Des Moines in July. The music on the juke box was appropriate and the service was great - the servers here know their beer. I want one of these in my town. If you open one here, I promise to patronize you 6 nights a week.
Amazing place to visit while in Des Moines. The taps are sight to see with well over 100. The bartenders are very knowledgeable and love beer themselves. The atmosphere is very nice and on a warm day, they have the doors open and it is even more fun. You have to stop by here if you are in the area.
With 150+ beers you're sure to find something you like. If your more looking for place to get decent food and beer is secondary, go elsewhere. Typical greasy fare barfood. Burgers just OK.
This place is amazing! They have 105 beers on tap and a ton more in bottles and cans. They have beers from all over so you are sure to find something you like. If you like to try different beers this is the place for you. It is a must visit while in Des Moines.
This place has so many beers on tap that you would have to visit weekly, just to get through them all in one summer. Fun staff. Bike racks galore for those wanting to take the trail there.
