Enjoyed strolling thru this park and taking photographs and reading / hearing about the different sculptors. Definitely a place to visit and spend some downtime.
Who would have thought that in the middle of this corn mecca city capitol? Pappajohn family invested in Des Moines, but it didn't take shape with just this park. This park is a proving ground that Des Moines has much to show off and unveil in it's city pride. This actual block used to be a collection of empty warehouses that bred a negative light in the ever emerging developing city... when it was transformed with the awe inspiring art collection honed in by the Pappajohn family it allowed a new light to be created in the business district of Des Moines. This epic sculpture garden can all be viewed in about an hour but also leads one to other fine restaurant establishments as well as architectural revelations that have since imploded on this sculpture garden's ground breaking.
Gorgegous open area in downtown Des Moines with amazing sculptures and rolling landscape. Found it while walking from our hotel to the local brewery and was very happy to enjoy the art!!
A very nice venue for seeing art. An outdoor exhibition that allows you to walk around and become intimate with the pieces.
What a great couple are the Pappajohns for donating their outdoor sculptures to the city. This is a cool place to walk, picnic, and take pictures as well as show out-of-town guests.
Neat sculpture art with a wide variety. Everyone will find at least one that they like. If you are not an art affeciatnado, then you can take silly pictures.
Watching this sculpture park grow is a real treat to the art lover. You will find world class sculpture displayed in a convenient downtown park with lots of parking next to and near by. New items are added frequently and the ground and surrounding streets host one of the nation's best art fair week ends every summer. Des Moines...who would have known.
I personally love the Pappajohn Sculpture park. Every time I go there is always a new addition or something that catches my eyes. It is very centrally located and virtually easy to get to no matter where you are at in Downtown Des Moines. I recommend it for tourists, locals, or even those on a business trip looking to get out of the office for a break.
Its fun to walk around the block and trails looking at the pieces. It is well lighted for night viewing which lends another experience.
There are all sorts of interesting sculptures to enjoy in this outdoor sculpture garden in the center of Downtown Des Moines.
