What a neat concept, wasn't sure what to expect. We were greeted as we pulled and everyone was friendly. You can go inside and watch the service, sit on benches in the shade or remain in your car. We stayed in our car like most others listening to the service on the radio, the preacher is stands outside on the balcony of the building. People honked car horns in place of an "amen".
Right across Atlantic Avenue and just south of the city, a Christian Church has built a unique sanctuary -- a drive-in theater. Pull in with you car, facing the chancel with its pulpit and table, and worship in a very different venue. There are two worship services with an educational program sandwiched in between. Ushers don't worry about seating; they are concerned about helping you find a place to park. The drive-in style of worship is a bit distracting initially, but that quickly fades as the service begins and the focus turns to God for the familiar sense of being linked to the holy. You may come for the novelty, but will soon find yourself surrounded by worshippers who are there for the spiritual.
yes just like a Drive In theater, very unusual but a novel idea. The speakers are loud enough sermon good and no pressure for anything. Services are at 8:30 and 11:30 great times for worship.
A great spot to worship. You are not without church while on vacation. All are welcomed and you do not have to feel out of place, as you are in your car. Tune in on the radio so you can hear and sing along if you want.
Come as you are, and worship in your car. Coffee and donuts available in social hall. Communion every Sunday. Heard three great sermons in a more than unique setting. I highly recommend this experience! 8:30 and 10:30 services.
Visited one Sunday morning and had such a refreshing experience that my wife n I decided to go often. The sermons are inspiring, And the messages are encouraging. Would recommend visiting this Drive In Church, very unique setting
Now this is my kind of church!! We drove there when service was not in, looks very different, I hope to come back sometime when services are on!! Let me say, if we had this at home I would attend regularly!
Interesting. Worth driving by or walking by as it was certainly different. I would be surprised if you will ever come across something like this in another part of the country.
We missed the sermon but we drove around to get an idea of how this works. Its like a drive-in theater so you hear the sermon on the drive-in speakers. I actually loved the idea. Great for tourist in the area! If we go back, we are going to make sure we don't miss it again.
Beautiful miles and miles of beach. It was quiet when I visited which is just before the spring break.I like the idea of driving my car along the beach. It was enjoyable and admission is only $5 to drive there and swim all day.The beach is very clean. It has some facilities for rinsing and maybe using the washrooms however they could be a few and far between for the beach as long as Daytona.I recommend.
