It is actually owned by the "Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania" and named "The Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ". I do not know why your reader says its not in Tirana, its massive and only 1 block away from the Skelenburg statue. It is a very impressive building in gold and white with an amazingly designed clock and bell tower attached. However it is not like Doctor Who's Tardis its smaller on the inside than it looks from the outside. Very ornate, and very rich icons are everywhere in this very ultra modern church.
This church is brand new! Very modern, clean lines, striking to see in the center of Tirana. We visited in the evening just before closing and it was very serene and peaceful. Worth a stop even if you're not religious if only for the peace and quiet and to enjoy the beauty.
New Orthodox church just off Skanderbeg Square--beautiful architecture, mosaics, use of light & space. Serene inside; small chapel and bell tower adjacent. Well worth the walk to see it--recommend evening before it gets totally dark.
Very modern and a brief visit is okay. Local citizens have donated monies to refurbish this church. Location in the heart of Tirana
How wonderful for the city to have a new beautiful new church after the fall of the anti-religious regime. It is elegant and inviting and worth a brief stop if you are not here to pray.
this picture is big lie. We searched Tirana and this building is nowhere in Tirana. In the adress there is a beatiful another church but not this one.
Apart from the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow, this is the first NEW Orthodox church I've visited. It is very different from the older, more traditional churches - bright & truely beautiful without the slightly oppressive feel I associate with Orthodoxy. The mosaic work is superb. It's near to Skanderbeg Square so don't miss it!
I was there with my lady as she is Orthodox. The place is brand new and the church has been builded newly. Additionally, during the church was builded, the best workers of Tirana have been worked in the construction. Definitely worth to visit!
This was a very beautiful church, but undergoing a remodel or cleaning as there was scaffolding all along the walls inside
We went by pretty quick. Saw their book store...not that into old Churches. I was not anything greatly different than others
