Especially the desig of the outside . Takes much time to see every detail. Primarely study of Gothic style recommended. Inside see the black Madonna. More information in the nearby tourist office.
This fabulous church designed like a cathedral. but smaller has a fabulous mediaeval atmosphere because of the exquisite stained-glass, not all of it mediaeval but beautifully constructed in the 19th century. There is also a black Madonna. The church seems mainly famous for the gargoyles outside and the little owl but I was impressed by the atmosphere inside.
Worth stopping by and seeing.Beautiful architecture and surrounding. If you liked visiting other cathedrals I am sure you will like this one too.
No crowds so a very peaceful visit to see the tablets of stone and a station of the cross. Awesome organ above the door. Roman crypt a bit underwhelming. Very impressive and well worth a detour away from the city centre along the owl trail.
The Owl on Notre Dame is where you can make a wish. I made a wish for my daughter and an owl showed up on her patio! He was watching out for her as I asked!
Be prepared to go up the steps to the top. You will see Dijon and the place. Very nice view! It worth a while
This cathedral has one of the rare 'black' virgins which isn't all that black really but interesting. If you look at the sculptures over the entrance to the cathedral you'll see all of the heads have been cut off during the French Revolution
This beautiful piece of history forms part of the owl tour around the magnificent mediaeval town of Dijon, cote d'or.the amazing silence hits you on entering an puts you immediately at peace with the world as you walk around the stained glass wonderment. the history is complemented by descriptive commentary under each artifact on English and French and other languages are accommodated on the printed sheets you can also find, describing the history of the building.
It was not a "wow factor" church. It was very peaceful and prayerful. The windows were beautiful. I would like to have been at services there.
