On campus just killing time and saw the Women's VB team played Minnesota that night. We went to a late lunch at HopCat (see review). Nice surprise when we walked in to see there is no admission fee and was quite a display of athletic ability. Seeing these 6'4" women spike the ball in person made me glad I wasn't on the receiving end.
From the gardens to the planetarium to the events, you won't be disappointed after spending time on campus. The Wharton Center, the Breslin Center and Spartan Stadium are guaranteed to be a memory you won't forget. Stop at the Dairy Store and new art gallery for over the top experiences. The campus is beautiful in all four seasons and oh ya, it's a great place to get a higher education as well!
Beautiful campus! Walked around and a docent in the botanical gardens showed us the most poisonous plant area and Johnny Appleseed trees. Bike trails everywhere and beautiful farmland to bike through. Football stadium staff were great in replacing lost tickets. Lots to do as grow ups visiting just to get away.
Awesome campus. Walking around campus is like strolling through a state park. Quality education, excellent facilities and a world class museum. Highly recommend visiting and if you are a graduating senior, you can't find a better university
Wonderful University to be at! Enjoyed my visit and everything there was great and the staff as well was terrific
Graduated from MSU in 1970. It is a Land Grant university and really one of the most beautiful universities I have ever seen. Yes, of course I am prejudiced but I can't help that! Two of my children graduated from this institution as well! The campus is beautiful just to walk around, and spend a day. The flowers, buildings, grounds, farms, and stadiums are grand. As all Land Grant colleges they are separate (I believe) from the towns and cities in which they are located, which set them apart and adds to the beauty. The students have always been friendly and just really normal type folks and of course the education one receives is superior to most. Of course, then we have the Spartan teams - simply the best!!! Oh, and now every spring is the East Lansing /MSU Art Fair. Not to be missed.! Even if you are not looking for an institution of higher education it is a fun day! And if you are looking for a good education, don't pass this up! Sparty on!
Whether you are coming with your college bound kid or just want to tour campus it is certainly worth the trip. Be sure stop at the Dairy store and indulge in cheese and ice cream. The International Center located next to Spartan Stadium has a bookstore and food court. The Art Museum and Planetarium are also good bets to spend some time. And of course a visit without walking along the Red Cedar river would be criminal. Wear blue and maize at your own risk.
Even in the bitter cold, Campus is a great place to check out, with plenty of food & shopping near by.
Wow some college campuses are old and beat up looking but this has to be one of the best kept campus's around. beautiful foliage, you feel very safe as you walk around and see some new and very old buildings. the stadium is in middle of campus to parking off campus and walking is easy to do and probably better than locking for parking closer.
We were on a tour of the campus with our grand daughter in July 2013. We were treated well at the hotel which was a great start to our campus visit. We met with several people from various schools within the university. It was a pleasant experience which resulted in her selecting MSU as her educational experience.
