Sugarloaf is the perfect way to kill a few hours. Absolutely beautiful hike, and the views you're rewarded with at the top make all those stairs more than worth it! Pretty neat at night too, if you don't mind the dark. Even if you're not in shape (like me) there are pleanty of benches along the way for you to stop and catch your breath!
Fun little hike up the hill with great views of Lake Superior, Marquette, and the surrounding area. It was just pristine!
Sugarloaf Mountain is less than 10 minutes north of Marquette, right along the Lake Superior shoreline. It's a very easy hike (there's an "easy" route and a "difficult" route, but both are entirely manageable), and the views at the top is amazing. There is a great panorama of the City of Marquette, Lake Superior, and the interior of Marquette County. Great during all seasons and for people of all ages and shouldn't be missed on a trip to the Marquette area.
Free and located just a few minutes northeast of Marquette. Newly paved parking lot leads you to 2 trails - one easier but longer than the other with stairs. Both lead to the rock covered summit with several platforms with vista to the lake, Presque Isle, and the wooded areas around Marquette. Great for adults and kids.
This is a family favorite. There are 2 trails to the top, Recommend that you take one on the way up and the other on the way down. We head out here a few times a summer
If you don't mind the CLIMB -( there are stairs) the view from the top is totally amazing! Makes you appreciate just how BIG Lake Superior is!
I think people have been climbing up here for a hundred+ years. Great view of Marquette, the lake shore and the surrounding area. Not a difficult climb, good trails and stairs on the steeps, <30 minutes.
A 15 minute hike that is worth every breath it takes you to get there! I recommend early morning sunrises over Lake Superior.
Must-do if you are visiting Marquette, Michigan! The difficult trail only took about 25 minutes to get to the top, and make sure to wear sneakers, because the trail consists of some stairs, but mainly the natural environment. We planned our hike with the sunset, and the view was spectacular.
Sugarloaf is a really nice hike with fantastic views at the top. There is an "easy" and "difficult" route, which is nice to be able to choose. Make sure to take your camera! It's fun to have lunch on the top too.
