Although the brewery is a few miles outside of downtown Durango, the Ska Brewing Company's beer can be found in many of the local establishments. Many of their brews are on tap in the restaurants and you can be sure to find one that will be your new favorite. My boyfriend and I visited the brewery twice during our week-long stay in the town. On the first visit we both had a sampler with 5 different beers (your choice). One of our favorites was the Mexican Logger; our second visit to the brewery was to pick up a growler of it. The service at the brewery was great, the bartender recognized us the second time we came in and she gave us some stickers to take home with us. They impressed us with quality and service. We are definitely picky about our beer and this place is sure to impress.
We stopped by for an Amber and some food. The Amber was great but no food served there although food trucks do stop by and the barmaid said they had plans for a restaurant next door. There is music in the evening including a "vinyl night."
Had a great time trying all the Ska beers on tap (13). Besides Steamworks, this is the place to come in Durango for craft beer. There were some amazing beers in the mix. Enjoyed the atmosphere and outside seating area, even got in a few games of "corn hole" in.
We are a big fan of Ska Brewery, We always buy the Mexican Lager so going there was definitely part of our itinerary. We Came here after our Durango/Silverton train trip and had some food and beer. They food was delicious and the beers were just spectacular! There are some brews that you can't buy in the store. My husband and I both had two beers and paid less then $6! We thought they made a mistake on our bill but it turned out it was only $1.50 for each beer. That is how every brewery should run! We really like this place, wish they bottle more brews and sell them in the midwest!
My buddies and I went on a brewery crawl of the five Durango Breweries. We started at 11:00 am and ended around 8:00 pm. Enjoyed each brewery and we rated our favorites. Each brewery has knowledgable, and fun staff who put up with a bunch of men out for a good time. Rated number 2 on the Brewery Crawl only because they lack a good menu. However they are putting in a kitchen and that should remedy the food situation. Voted the best brewery to hang out in and have a few. Fun atmosphere with attractive pub area. Thursday nights they have live music. There Ten Pin Porter, True Blonde, Pinstripe Red, Mexican Logger are all superb. Their Pinstripe Red is one of the best reds I have ever tried. Out of the way in a warehouse area so plug in your GPS. This is a brewery with an attitude. Yes Ska is the earliest version of reggae. Be there!
Ska Brewery, the well know Durango Brewery does live up to its name. A variety of brews with your choice of samples in a flight. On Thursdays, they had a band and some selling hot sandwiches. The staff was friendly and service was great. A little outside of town, but well worth it.
We went here to taste their beers and they were outstanding. The atmosphere here was warm and friendly. That day they had a band outside playing, they were great. The food served here was just delicious. We had their wood oven pizza and their wings(they are hot but sooo good).
We just visited Ska on our first trip to Durango. The Pinstripe is an excellent almost Amber choice. The kitchen is in a shipping container. They put out great food! We had the kettle chips and grilled cheese as well as a pizza. I would select the sandwiches over the pizza as the crust was soggy. A live jazz band was playing while we were there. The only negative is that the hours of operations are limited. No late dinners here!
We love Ska Beer, but sadly can't get it in Indiana, so that means when we are in CO, we hit up Ska every time. The building interior (and surrounding decor) are unexpected and fitting, the food is terrific (both years in a row, different items), and the staff is super cool. This year we tried the BBQ and Brick Oven Pizza -- wow -- wish I could've brought some of that home. The Modus Hoperandi (IPA) continues to amaze us, so much that we bought a case from our kind server, and if you are into grabbing beer souvenirs, Ska has 'em -- stickers, coasters, you name it -- and they are well priced and well made. Try it!!
My son and I spent time tipping back a couple of pints at this quaint brewery on the south side of Durango. Great atmosphere, polite and helpful staff and excellent array of delicious brews! A must do for beer connoisseurs who enjoy sampling an array of different malts.
