We took the kids to this lake and they had a blast, we were at the primitive area. We set up camp and the camp sites have enough distance between than that we have your privacy. We camped right in front of the water and there wasn't that many trees so we were able to fish right in front of our camp site. The beach area was also very pleasant, the water is very clean and was nice and warm. Cops do patrol the area and keep things quiet which was awesome. The kids camped, fished, went swimming, picked up wood for the camp fire and had an awesome camping experience. We all had a blast, I am not sure what everyone is gripping and complaining about, everyone there was just pleasant and having a great camping experience, mostly families with children. We look forward to going back and making this lake and camping area a regular on weekends. Oh it was hot during the day but in the evening it was nice and cool, clear sky full of starts and it was awesome weather for night fishing, also in the early sunrise, it is beautiful site over the lake.
Had high hopes and completely let down! I paid less to get into Daytona beach than this nasty place. Poop all over the beach and makes it disgusting for kids to play in. Staff in the entrance booth are very rude!
along with all the fishing, camping, boating, water skiing, etc. We drive there just to enjoy the quiet, beautiful things.
This is not a place I would recommend anyone go. You are charged to "park" and the beach is always disgusting. On my first visit, there were cigarette butts EVERYWHERE. Broken glass in the sand. It was obvious that someone had a really good time prior to our visit. There is no one in sight to help you, except the person taking your money. I would recommend you find a pool or a real state park.
I have not caught a fish here in 13 years. None worth keeping anyhow. The lake is small and can feel crowded on a boat. However, it is peaceful if you just want to get outdoors. Reserve your spot early. Don't expect to show up Friday night and have a spot available.
Park is laid out nice and well marked. visited for storybook in the park at Halloween and we have camped here this year.
Took the chance of catching one more camping weekend before the cold weather set in. Grand daughter loved the playground and Grandma and Grandpa loved the clean campgrounds and restrooms. Of course we didn't go to the swimming beach and have read some reports about it not being the cleanest. However, if the campgrounds are an indication of the condition I would definitely not hesitate to take the family swimming.
Good for fishing, fun for tubing, and very nice small lake. If you are interested in a big lake with a lot of room to move about, this may not be your cup of tea. However, the quaintness of Arcadia is fun, the fish were biting, and there was enough room to do some tubing! Great afternoon.
This is a nice lake for picnicking, camping and boating. It can get crowded on the weekends. There is no restaurant, so bring your own food and beverages. There are fun playgrounds and beaches for kids and covered picnic pavilions.
This state camp does not take reservations, it's 1st come 1st serviced. We arrived on a Tuesday and all the full hook ups were taken except two up front by the highway which we really didn't want because of the noise and no shade. But... since we were there we took it. The young man at the gate could not have been more friendly and helpful. After we got hooked up and settled in we went back to the gate and was told there should be and opening by the lake by 5:00. We took it. We are very happy we did. It is a beautiful spot with shade and a view of the lake.
