I love walking on beaches that have loud, thunderous waves and Cannon Beach has it. It was cloudy, moody, and beautiful. Haystack Rock was great to go explore and take pictures multiple times throughout the day to get the view in all different types of lighting.
So many tides pools and ocean life. Volunteers out at the rock to give information also. Lots of hand on
It would be separate from al the other haystack rocks in Oregon. It would be remembered as the accessible rock you can reach at low tide, the one you held your special loved one as the sun set. A thousand reasons to make this Haystack Rock it's own. A meeting place, a place where lovers lament, a place where children play, and adults will climb and look deep into tidal pools. A special place. Dreamers Rock. The Sentinel, The Rock, give it a name. Make it a rock unto itself.
And though that may be true, I still never get tired of walking on the beach and watching all the seabirds come and go. The tide-pools are spectacular too, with anemones and even the sea stars are making a comeback -- I saw two and had not seen any for a while.
Take a walk on the beach before the sun rises, the fog dissipate and strollers start invading the beach... The sight of these beautiful rocks jutting out of the water is awe inspiring. I must have taken 100s of pictures...A must!
We love cannon beach! Rain or shine it's always beautiful. Be prepared to come away with sand in every corner of your clothing, bags, and shoes though!
Wonderful natural rock formation waiting to be photographed all day with wildlife and rock pools teaming with life
It was a good sunny weather in February when we visited and we had good time. Perfect for one day trip from portland. Finding parking was little difficult
The rock is unique and memorable to see. At low tide, one can approach the Rock and see starfish and other marine life around. Not to be missed.
Take your camera and enjoy some photos to remember your visit. Dress in layers as it can bee cool at this beach. Sometimes its foggy but that usually burns off. A great place to enjoy the natural beauty of the Oregon coast.
