Lake Maraboon is beautiful....very disappointed with Camp ground there didn't end up staying after looking at sites wouldn't recommend
Fairbairn Dam leads round to Lake Maraboon and is a wonderful oasis in a parched piece of country. We saw people fishing and water skiing and enjoying the outdoor life as there were barbecues and shady areas for families. Then at the end of the day a wonderful sunset.
Fairburn dam is large dam with plenty of grass and picnic facilities. The redclaw are easy to catch but fish not so accommodating. I stayed at the caravan park which was overcrowded, overpriced and has no view. Fairburn needs a place for campers to enjoy the outdoors lakeside.
Picturesque and peaceful, great spot for the fishermen. I enjoyed the birds, cooktops and rosellas. We stayed at the caravan park which was really good, very clean and very well organized business.
A little way out of Emerald, this lake - Lake Maraboon - and it's attendant dam are so very pretty, and there are plenty of amenities around the main vehicular access areas, and plenty of space to stretch out; very special spot indeed!!
It's a little boring . Not much to do there unfortionately . I visited on a couple of occasions but probably won't go again
Fairbairn Dam is an enormous structure that contains more water than Sydney Harbour. The dam is impressive with a large wall and run off areas for the irrigation channels.Worth the drive out to the dam area.Smithy
Felt very relaxed here. The waft of lemon-scented gums as we looked out across the dam & beyond, with magpies warbling around us. No-one else around us at the time.....magic!
This is a massive structure, the lake is as far as the eye can see. Camping and picnic area clean and well appointed. Well worth the drive from Emerald. The dogs enjoyed the spacious area and we walked around. Everything was clean and tidy and rubbish bins around the area, a lot of thought had gone into this making for a family atmosphere, Terrific place to take the family for a day swimming walking etc, not to mention the view. The Dam and Lake is an education for youngsters to realise what a feat of angineering can be achieved.
Cool and peaceful a great place to relax and unwind with lots of places to have a picnic will go again when next up there.
