I love this little intimate venue. I've traveled several times from Michigan to see an artist I like here and it's always worth the trip.
good venue for music with intimate feel and great names, unusual - and I have not got 50 characters left to say more
Fun menu, well though out and executed. And if you can get in Union to hear live music, it's a perfect evening.
This is a great music venue where there are no bad seats and you are always up close and personal. They need to get their food act together a little more. You can only get pizzas that arrive from the front of the house in a cumbersome box for a tiny or no table.
We attended a performance at Space and were pleased with how nice the acoustics were. Even with a nearly full-house, the room felt intimate without feeling closed in and crowded. The food, from the attached Union Pizza, was surprisingly good - I had a delicious kale salad, a burrata dish and a combination of grapefruit, avocado and cilantro that was simple, but just outstanding. If you enjoy live music, this is a relaxed atmosphere to do just that. Disclaimer: I was actually with the band in the Green Room, so I don't know whether they serve the food from Union Pizza in Space, or if you eat first or what. Space definitely serves drinks. The relationship between the two entities is not entirely clear to me, but they are in the same "space" anyway!
I've frequented SPACE on many occasions and have always had a tremendous experience. The sound in the venue is incredible and the ambiance is very warm and inviting. Most of the shows I go to have seating (some with tables) and they have waitresses come around to take drink orders. I never feel the waitresses are intrusive during the show. They sometimes do pack in pretty tight at the seats (hey, it is business, right?) but it is always manageable. Oh, and one of the best parts - Union Pizza, which is the attached restaurant (you actually have to walk into Union to get to SPACE. Same owner). The food and drinks at Union are ridiculously awesome (brick oven pizzas, eclectic small plates, good beer and craft cocktails) and you can even bring the pizzas into the show!
This is a wonderful small venue to hear your favorite musicians. Very intimate and great acoustics make this "space" perfect for that musical night out!
Nice, intimate place to see a show. Nothing fancy, but acoustically excellent. There's a bar with reasonably high drink prices but good service. We were there during a standing-room only show and even though it was sold out, it wasn't all fannies to elbows. There was room to breath and enjoy. Yeah, I'd return -- happily even.
I have attended many events and have enjoyed each and every one of them. There isn't a bad seat and you are so close to the performer. It is a very intimate venue. I recommend getting a table unless you don't mind standing. If you are hungry Union Pizza is available and it is pretty good.
Went to Space to see Alejandro Escovedo on New Year's Eve. Everything about the show was great. This is an intimate setting (seats about 250?) with pretty good acoustics. There is no bad seat in the house. Most are seated at small round tables which hold your drink and not much else. Some are seated in individual chairs around the perimeter of the room. The show itself was great, with Alejandro backed up by a great violinist and several other musicians. He performed several really good covers of Lou Reed songs in tribute. We ate at the attached Union Pizzeria, which has a good casual atmosphere with better-than-average small plates and flatbread pizza. This made seeing the show a stress-free night despite the horribly snowy evening.
