This is a fantastic museum, with incredible range of both Italian and International ceramics. It isn't to be missed!
The real reason to go is the rich and very well presented collection of Italian renaissance ceramics, especialy the Faenza production. The collection of contemporary ceramics is focussed on Italy, if you are not familiar with Italian contemporary ceramics, this is worth visiting. The rest of the world is not well presented in the contemporary department,The museum is huge, so you need to make a selection. But just include the Faenza collection of renaissance ceramics. It is marvelous.
Have been here twice. I could never tire of it. Probably the best collection in the world. We were fortunate on this latest trip to see a temporary exhibition of work selected from the 58th International Ceramics competition
Clean and quiet with a small grocery store next door and a great restaurant down the street. The street is mainly residential and an easy 10 minute walk to the stazione.
Marvellous and extensive collection spanning centuries of ceramics with an important international contemporary collection upstairs. a sensitively designed building and gardens housing the collection.
Usually the ceramic sections of the big museums are a bit boring. But this is not the case when you are in a great museum like this, entirely devoted to ceramics, in a city that was one of the capitals of the world in this manufacture. The wealth of the collections allows you to build an attractive summary of the ceramics throughout the world. There is also space for the technological aspect: some well made maquettes of traditional manufacturing techniques illustrate the different traditions in this field. Recommendable.
fantastic ceramics of all times. Worth coming to Faenza just to visit the ceramic museum
I love the place that have so much tradition in Ceramics , we love the different patterns of ceramics we love the Blue Carnation the most , we are getting a entire collection at the factory
I went to the ceramic museum expecting that it was small, and not very diverse. When I got there, I realized that it was completely the opposite. The pieces displayed were gathered throughout the ages, and were of so many different styles. I was very impressed when I see types of designs I have never seen before anywhere around the world. The museum is very well-organized, the pieces are all displayed nicely and there are seats to rest every once in a while. The architecture on the inside and outside is beautiful too.Tickets only cost 8 euros, and the staff are friendly and nice.Souvenirs are available when you finish your tour. This museum is definitely worth visiting if you're in Faenza.
We found this museum as we walked around Faenza. I didn't know much about ceramics, and wondered about a whole museum of them. What a nice surprise. The museum is well organized, and the collections from different periods and regions are presented in a fascinating manner. Faenza is a pleasant town, and we enjoyed walking around after our museum visit. Next time we're in the region, we're planning a return visit.
