Some people from my guided group tour decided to skip this room since they were so tired after 3 hours of walking around the museum, but I decided to give it a try despite my fatigue. I wasn't disappointed at all. In fact, the artworks appeared so stunning, especially when I could hear about the meanings of these frescoes from my knowledgeable guide.
This was my favorite part of the Vatican Museum, even moreso than the Sistine Chapel (possibly because that was so crowded and dimly lit so you couldn't really appreciate it). Back in high school I'd studied the symbolism of Raphael's School of Athens/Disputa, and so it was a treat to see it here. The colors were very vivid. The other rooms were very cool too - (not all of them are by Raphael, some are by his assistance). Make sure not to miss this - there are two paths to get to the Sistine Chapel and one of them bypasses these rooms, and you can't double back.
this was the highlight of the Vatican museums. The colours are vivid and the detail is incredible. Do not miss them if you are there
Wow, wow, huge masterpieces to be admired..spectacular..to think painted directly on to the fresh plaster
Pope Julius 2 was a pretty good interior designer. After all he chose unknown artist Raphael to paint his apartments. Swing over to http://smu.gs/1KwzzZ9 for some beautiful pictures from the Stanza dell'Incendio del Borgo and some helpful tips for seeing the Vatican in style, ciao!
make yourselves a favour and visit this stunning place. Rafael's masterpieces are a must see, at least once in your lifetime.
Amazing paintings from Rafael full of mystery and hidden messages! School of Athens blew my mind! Incredible work
Raphael masterpieces such as The School of Athens or The Baptism of Constantine are magnificent and unique. The most interesting part of the Vatican’s museum.
