I am biased since my child is attending the University. But really one of the reasons selected ( besides offering great education opportunities) is its location(beats Harvard and MIT) . It is located in the City, but in its own University Town comprised by two Universities ( UPenn and Drexell). The architecture is unique. Both Gothic as well as modern. A lot of statues along with proverbs by who else? B. Franklin mark the University's grounds. Unique the fact that every Wednesday there is a farmer's market on university grounds. Would definitely reccomend it as a must visit for any family visiting Philly.
The University of Pennsylvania maintains a combination of architecture that reminds the observer of the past while tastefully including the structures of the modern era.
I went down to Philly for the Penn/Cornell Football game and I have to say that they have a beautiful campus and an equally nice stadium. The game was exciting and was going back and forth the whole game. The only problem was the apathetic Penn fans. They don't even come out for their games. Cornell does have the best football team either but at least our Alumni comes down from New York to support our team. The best part of their stadium is their concession stand. They have the best cheesesteaks and pretzels and on a cold day and it was cold that day, made it well worth it. We did win the cliffhanger by one point and the Penn students did not know what they missed. It was a great game.
My son is currently an undergrad at Penn and absolutely loves it. Having toured multiple colleges Penn was without a doubt the most pleasant of surprises. My son wanted an urban environment but didn't care for city campuses that simply blend into the city. The moment we walked onto Locust Walk it felt like the perfect combination. The campus itself is gorgeous but the fact that it is surrounded but an interesting city neighborhood filled with coffee shops, clothing stores, bookstores, restaurants, etc. Philly itself has turned out to be a pleasant surprise. It is not a city I ever had an interest in visiting but now that we have reason to visit on occasion I have found it to be an amazing city and look forward to becoming more familiar with it.
城市和学校的分届不太明显 沃顿的楼很像一个导弹发射井 超丑 校园中间有好多带着希腊字母的兄弟会的房子 还有一些通体发绿了的房子 总的来说校园还不错
Ben Franklin was a member, among other prominent people. the more famous members are actually buried under the floor of the aisle of the church.
Hard to call this a tourist attraction - the most you can do is walk around unless you have an appointment or a specific event. It is a very pleasant place to stroll, especially if you appreciate architecture
I love the rich history of Philadelphia. Spent the day at a business conference, cut out early to explore the city. So much history. It was cold out though.
Fun to see the hospital and School of Medicine on quick visit to see my daughter's work place. Well located to reach by mass transit. Enjoyed the view from the break room for the laboratory.
Beneath the Surface - great exhibit at the Penn Museum! Gold jewelry and objects and pottery found by the Rio Grande Cocle' in Panama give new understanding of the Cocle' people
