The title says it all. I go there to jump of the bridge once a year at Bridge Day. It's really beautiful there and a great place to go hiking with the family. A lot of trails and things to see. You can rent canoes and go down the river or do more advanced water rafting. Whatever your choice is, you're sure to have a great time there!
This place is Beautiful!! Take time to drive below the bridge. Make time to watch the slide show/movie in visitors center, its very cheesy but fun.
First time visit and well worth the hike up through the woods for the view. So many different coliors and absolutely breathtaking.
I really enjoyed my stop at the bridge and visitors center. The view points are spectacular, it is alot of stairs to the closest viewpoint to bridge. The stop only requires about 30 minutes in all but worth it.
Traveling North to my daughter's I crossed this bridge and had to stop at the visitors info center to learn more of this amazing structure. Inside there is an 11 minute movie that talks about the Gorge things to do there and about the construction of the bridge. This bridge is the largest arched bridge in the world and is 876 feet above the gorge. After viewing the visitors center I took a short walk to the overlook to get a better view of the gorge and bridge. Someday I want to return and take the wooden path down to the bottom of the gorge.
The bridge and sights around it are beautiful. Check out the visitors center for the background and an amazing view of the bridge
This is the sort of place you can spend a few minutes or several hours. I was in the area on a business trip so I opted for the latter. The visitor center is right off the road adjacent to the bridge. They have an easy walk to the first vantage point and then down several stairs to the next. Both points I visited offered beautiful views.
The views from the visitor center overlook were well worth the stop. The visitor center itself was also worthwhile. It presented a nice history of the area as well as information on local flora and fauna. Parking is easy and the center was clean and well-maintained.
An awesome structure, from above, on and below! Do not miss the visitor's center at the north end of the bridge. Visit the overlooks (2), easily accessible from the visitor center parking lot. If time permits drive the narrow road into the gorge from the north side, cross the New River on a bridge that is the replica of the original bridge, and come back up to the main highway on the south side of the New River Gorge Bridge. You can obtain a pamphlet and a CD (free of charge!) that will point out the high lights of your trip along the road. Allow at least an hour for the trip.
Very nice visitors centre with the history of the gorge. It's a remarkable bridge and the view is breathtaking. Worth stopping for half an hour.
